their sound has become soft compared to their IOWA album or even to their self-titled album and vol.3 The Subliminal Verses album...
wouldn't you agree?
~I'll appreciate it if anyone can post other slipknot music videos...
I suddenly felt like seeing their previous MVs again...
my top3 favorite Slipknot songs are:
Spit it Out
Disasterpiece
Pulse of the Maggots
~I basically like, almost everything...
how about you guys? (does anyone here even listen to them?)
I used to listen to them (around IOWA) but, I stopped since really the only people I ever see listen to it where "angst filled teens". Their music does seem to have softened over time. Makes me wonder why the music is getting softer.

Maybe it is an attempt to shift closer to popular rock of the moment?
I don't listen to them much. Their music is alright, but it's nothing particularly special. And I mostly ignore the whole imagery thing. Not that there is anything wrong with it.
Although, there is nothing anyone can do in the realm of imagery that hasn't already been done by Alice Cooper.
oh, Slipknot is one of the huge metal bands,I like their growling...
however their genre is metalcore or post-hardcore , the other genre is deathcore, black metal, emocore, hardcore, etc.
their growls sounds distinctive, like in psychosocial, and duality
one of my fave!

Do you think a band cares about apealing to people if they act like this?...
In my eyes i see it more like there was alot more hate and anger that went into the makeing of SlipKnoT's first couple of albums, with expirence and time spent away from the band their music evolved in the way the band used this hate and anger to make music. You can see from the music that they have been evolving, with the relese of each album their have been more solos on them than the last. And with the music there masks have been changing to acompany the music they play.
To me All Hope Is Gone is as heavy and dark as eny onther one of their albums. SlipKnoT has always been about making music, mabe not to apeal to people but more to what they want to make, there thoughts and ideas as a band that had odds against them (being a nine peice band coming from Des Moines, Iowa and almost being writen off) have always conected with people.
With song names like People=Shit, Wait And Bleed, Pulse of the Maggots and Butchers Hook i cant realy think SlipKnoT ever realy wanted apeal to people, if you look at their interviews its more like their offering to the fans somthing that wasnt their already.
On another note Jim Root once said in an interview that if when working on an album, if it felt like enything like making eny of the other albums he wouldnt want enything to do with it. SilpKnoT as a band arnt just there to make music, they are there to be slipKnoT. They do whatever the heck they want. They dont need to become "soft" in order to apeal to more people. its just there methods of creating songs has changed from when they first began.
Just saying my mind.
Sorry for the rant. Im a MOGGOT i cant help it. Lets post more videos shall we :)
I have all four of Slipknot's albums, and I've listened to them countless times beginning to end. In my opinion it's not the fact that the music is getting softer, it's the fact that the band is progressing and their sound has become more fine tuned and less grit. I mean compare their first album to their latest one, the Slipknot self-title CD sounds like it was recorded in a basement while All Hope is Gone sound like it was produced and remastered several times over to get the 99.9% perfect sound that it has. Although it is true that the Lyrical feel of their albums has gone softer, there Instrumentals have gotten heavier....except for Snuff that song is way soft. With my rambling at an end, just throwing this out there, "Before I Forget" is my favorite song.
Now I'm far from a metal connoisseur (I've been listening to Lisa Miskovsky and Regina Spektor all evening :P), but I like a bit of Slipknot now and then. I have my favourites from the softer and harder sides, so I'm fairly indifferent, but I do have more favourites from All Hope is Gone than any album before it - All Hope is Gone, Psychosocial, Dead Memories, Vermilion Part 2 mix, 'Til We Die, Wherein Lies Continue come to mind.
