First of all, I was thinking about dumping this in the art section, but not being sure about the amount of people checking it than, I thought I'd put it up in random
Now, as Fakku has alot of artists around, I thought it would be nice if we could have our own SoTW. I would be willing to take care of the organizational stuff etc, but first, I'd like to see how many would be interested in a SoTW.

Whats SoTW?
For those who don't know what a SoTW is - it stands for "Signature of the Week". Basically it is a contest of all those who like to make their own signatures. A theme is chosen each week, either by the winner of the last weeks contest - or by the moderator of the SoTW incase the awarded person doesn't feel like it.
What is allowed?
Basically, seeing that this is a 18+ forum I think everything goes when it comes to sexuality. However there are of course a few "don't do this" issues:
1) Do not claim other peoples work to be your own and enter it in a contest. It is not only unfair but also leads to a ban from the game (though as long as they are public you are allowed to use renders from other persons).
2) You should not enter your name in the signature. Basically, incase I'd be allowed to run this, I would gather the signatures, put them up in a post + poll and anounce the winner once the voting is over. This is to ensure fairness that a user won't get the win because of his popularity on the board, but because of his artwork
3) You are only allowed to enter 1 artwork, however you can recall it and change it for another one while the contest is running. Once the deadline of 5 days (Monday - Friday) is over, the last work you submitted will be counted as your entry.
The other important points:
a) You can use whatever art style, whatever tools you got on your hands, UNLESS the theme for the SoTW specifies otherwise. That means: If the SoTW theme is "Grunge" it is expected that you submit a grunge style signature and not a 90% vector stylish signature. Of course you can do it, but in the end you'd miss the topic and thus most likely receive less votes
b) Timeframe: Incase I am going to do this the timeframe would look like this: Monday 00:01 start of submissions - Friday 23:59 end of submissions, Saturday 00:01 start voting - Sunday 23:59 end voting. That means you got 5 days to prepare a signature that you are willing to enter, all times would be CET.
Where should I upload the signature once I am done?
You have several possibilities. It would be best if you could use photobucket / www.imagehost.org or the like, however avoid imageshack, as it doesn't allow fakku to hotlink media.
Voting:
Of course you can dump your vote and just leave, but if you are going to vote for a signature I would like you to state your reasons why you did so. Try to be as precise as possible. Here are a few criterias you can judge a signature by:
1) Concept - the concept and how it was realized
2) Render - the render, how much work went into altering / creating it
3) composition - The balance of colours / contrasts / styles / fonts / etc.
4) Topic - Does the signature fit into the topic? What makes it different from the other submitted ones when it comes to the realization of the topic?
5) Special Features - Animations / rare effects / style etc, that is creating a contrast and making it special.
That's pretty much it. Incase you want me to do this, I am looking forward to it, incase a moderator / admin wants to take charge of the game, I don't mind it either ^^. If you have further suggestions post them here. Incase there are enough interested persons, I'd be looking forward to start next monday with a theme chosen by the majority.

Well, it is a good opportunity to get a little better at my GIMP skills and see how more professional leveled people manage to work. Hm, I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

On that note, I would also like to add that I purposely didn't set a signature size limit in pixels yet. The reason is pretty obvious, as most artists have their own favorite sizes and as long as you don't make a miniature wallpaper, anything goes in my books^^. If there is however a wish for a common maximum size, I am open for suggestions :)

I like making signatures but i just don't have enough time. My last work (the battlefield bad company one), took me 20 mins at most as i didn't have the time to expand my imagination. I might join in this competition one day if you get it up and running.

Works for me. I hate huge signatures (+200 pixels high) but as long as I'm not forced to make one that big then that is fine in my book. XD

I participated in Sakurahana's SotW some time ago and it's pretty fun, dunno if i'll be actively participating Fakku's SotW though, now and then perhaps.
