Well, in all fairness, it's kinda the same principal as those 'dip-ems', he wanted to 'recharge' the gum's flavor.

Once during chemistry I accidentally swallowed some citric acid. It tastes less bad than I imagined it would be, actually.
But yeah, this is sort of stupid. XD It was bound to go wrong one day.
