Talking to girls you've never met before

Like the topic says. I was in the movies with my friend yesterday when I saw these three cute girls. I wanted to meet them, but was too shy and didn't know what to say.

So, any advice on how to talk to girls you've never met? And no, no cheesy lines or the likes.

Hmm... Just go and talk normally after introducing yourself? Bring some friends with you. Ask some stuff that is not too private about themselves. It'll be easy to bring up a conversation when you already know what their interest is and such. At least that's what I do.

Anyway, you just want to talk and befriend them, there are no extra feeling? Or?

Share intel. Start out small. The first step is always breaking the "ice" barrier. I never use pickup lines. Just act normal and at least try to be yourself.

Stick to the basic topics of School/Job, likes/dislikes. And anything relavent to the place at hand. Your at the movies, ask them what their going to see. If its the same, have you and your friends sit near them, dont be overbearing, and whatever you dont, dont dawdle or babble. Be precise in your speech, and try to be funny/silly. Many girls like a guy who can take it easy. Getting over shyness is very important.

Eh, Andoru-Kun's advice might work once the ice is broken but I don't think it really explains how to get you and your friend to be able to start talking to them in the first place.

I'd recomend having something already planned out, like asking them their opinion on something relevant like "Do you guys like this theater?" or "Have you heard if this movie is any good?" That will get the ball rolling.

One thing I used to do to a group of girls (because individual girls and groups of girls must be approached differently) is to ask them "Hey I have a question, me and my friends were talking about how there are 5 oceans in the world but we can't name them all. There is the alantic, pacific, indian, and artic ocean - but what is the last ocean?"

It is amusing to see a group of girls come up with all these crazy answers for ocean names, and thus laughing ensues and you get a chance to tease them about their anwsers. One girl told me it was the panama ocean (nooo... there is a panama canal though....?) and I started to call her panama for a while after that.

Yeah when I approach I usually ask a relevant question like that as well. The ocean question is a clever move though.

First thing is to say "excuse me..."...Ask her if its alright to introduce yourself or if its alright to ask for her name...and Just be yourself...if get you turned down, then it wasnt meant to be...i mean it also depends on the girl, if she's interested, because on how you approach her then you're good to go...and BE BRAVE! if you really like her...or if you really wanna know her...throw away your shyness...believe me, if you really like the girl, you'll forget about your shyness...and goodluck!

Use an opener like " Do you have the time?"
If you were at the movies "Oh so you guys are going to watch (title of movie) also?" then small talk yatatata.

I agree with the people above. Master the small talk relevant to the location you're at.

One more piece of advice: don't talk with them for to long - even if things are going well. The longer you talk with them the more awkward things will get. I'd say there is a 3 min limit on talking with them. Just get their numbers and leave and set up another time to talk with them.

The only exception is if you are at an event (sports game/festival/amusment park) or in a bar/club.



No way, that is a bad idea. If you do that then the girls will think you are either weird or lack self confidence. Since you have already engaged in talking with them (since the moment you said your first word with them), you might as well say something funny or interesting. I'd say only ask for their names when things are either going well or right before you leave.

Example:
Group:[talk about ocean's names]
You: Well if you guys get any ideas let me know, but right now I (or we if you have a right) have to leave. We have to do [whatever] right now (you can invite them along if they seem interested.) Actually, if you have a phone number we can call you when we are done if you guys want to [meet up/get something to eat/ hang out] later.
[Get their number]
You: oh and btw I didn't catch your names... (if they didn't give them to you when you asked for their numbers.)

You do have a point there, that some girls might think youre weird when you do that...but i said, it depends on the girl, if she's interested in you...some may think youre weird, some may think its nice to introduce yourself first...it depends really on the girl....well either way, if you think you can ask for the name first, or introduce yourself, or open a topic and ask her name later, as long as youre confident on what your gonna say...then go for it, you've got nothing to lose, and be yourself...

First, try to ask something like where this place located or something like that. And then try to be friendly
