Tech Question

I'll be going to college this Fall semester and I was wondering if anyone had any preference on laptops or suggestions, etc. And in all honesty I'd probably be playing Wrath of the Lich King during class.

I'd just go for a quick and easy dell laptop, especially now a days. I have had my dell for two years now and it still works great with anything, and most laptops are better equipped now. Except I do not like Vista that much with the new computers recently.
-A Mac is an option too but I've heard about too many of them crashing, plus you want to play WoW and I think it only plays on PC types.
-Anyway good luck with college :D

I think I'll just end up getting a Dell or whatever has the best warranty.

i have a tech question, i've been usin hp brand for as long as i know, but after the several experiences with different laptops and pcs, it seem to have the habit of crashin(freezin) after long period of usage 8 hours or so which is very annoyin considering u're gonna keep it on daily, i usually restart it after a few mins, i'm a tech illiterate, but on the crashin or freezin part, is it the overheatin of the cpu or maybe ram over-ride or even the windows vista's programmin glitches, and i've long heard that dell is the reliable choice when it comes to durability, is it true though?

i believe DELL is ahead of even alienware in reliability now

Don't get a dell their horrible for upgrading and just plain 'iffy'. Hp have always been good to me but i don't use many brand name comps anymore since i build my desktops.
Personally i would have bought an envy 133(pure sex-eh) since my last hp tx1515 was stolen and i'm heading to university but i don't have enough money right now since im quitting my job to go full time school.

So yeawh price range and preferences would be good. Like how powerful a gaming card, style, ect.

also dell owns alienware.

I've gotta say, on a personal level I hate Alienware laptops. Overpriced crap.

I have a Dell, and it's great. 2.4ghz dual, 8400M GS, 4GB RAM, etc... However, the other day the charger exploded. Yep. I got a new one under my Pro warranty free of charge, but it was a whore to lose my laptop for 4 days [as I ordered a new one on Friday, business cut-off day].

I'll tell you, it's worth getting a laptop through Dell just for their warranty. A summer or two ago my motherboard stopped working, I called support with my warranty information, next day there was a tech at my house who replaced it. They even replaced the screen just because I asked them to.

So if you get a Dell, get the best warranty possible.

I had a Dell computer, they were pretty reliable back in the Quake 2 days.
Never noticed about the warranty because it never crapped out on me but I did notice I was unable to tweak the motherboard.

whetever i get myself a laptop,i always get a japanese brand,like fujitsu,sony,panasonic or NEC.

my recommendation:fujitsu p1620,sony TZ series,panasonic toughbook series and NEC versa series.

i don't know about warranty in US or things like that,but from my experience those made-in-japan goodies could stand a beating.

just about EVERY laptop can do that (well any half way decent one can)you need to be a lttle more tech savy my friend

Not at all. Most laptops a few years ago didn't dream of built-in wireless. Nowadays it's existing and well working. Some PCMCIA add-in cards with high capabilities can out-perform the built-in crap however. You can also be limited in Linux by what the kernel might or might not support in the way of built-in hardware.

i meant todays. a few years ago laptops were crappy and too expensive for prebuilt models.
