Has anyone here actually read the original "Lolita" novel by Vladimir Nabokov? My English teacher in secondary school recommended it to me, so I'm wondering if it's worth the read. I heard great things about it however.

I've read it. It was strange but good. Although the main character (Humbert Humbert) is a pedophile, it is a decidedly anti-pedophilia novel. Serious actions come with serious consequences through the course of the plot and the ending is not what I would call "happy".
