Cherry decided it would be a good idea to use a plastic fairy wand and bonk me on the head yelling various healing spells in hopes it would heal my leg.

Yea I ship those two. They'd be great together. I'm surprised there isn't more fanart of these two acting like lovers, let alone friends. A good 95 percent of the fanart I've seen with these two show them as bitter enemies (one of which showed Dora with lighting powers for some reason) My favorite price of fanart regarding those two is this one where an older Dora is giving a young Kai Lan a quick "good luck" speech before her new show.

I always saw Kai Lan as a sort of spin off to the original Dora cartoon. (They have this new one where she's a tween in the city with an iPhone and magic bracelet. The episode I saw of it took place on a pirate ship and had nothing to do with the city.) with Kai Lan it seemed nick wanted to try and tweak Dora's formula to go out and teach other things. It worked for Diego and animals after all, so why not try and give an original spin on it. At the time Chinese was the 2nd or 3rd largest minority so it made sense to try and educate young kids about Chinese culture and stuff.

But yeah. I do ship those two. In fact I have this piece of head-cannon...
So what if Dora met Kai Lan during her world adventure with the whole friendship day bracelet thing and they became friends there, so Dora spoke with the nick executives and helped Kai Lan get her own show?

In fact I was surprised she didn't make a cameo when I saw that special. But then I learned the special predates the show by about 3 years. Still though, I see no reason why the worlds Dora and Kai Lan live in can't exist in the same universe, so maybe a background cameo in that new Dora cartoon thing? I dunno. I just really want to see those two together for some reason... And for Nickelodeon to have more winks and Easter Eggs to other cartoons their studio made and not just shows that are by Dan Schinder.

Now they're at the beach! The rest is self explanatory.
