First off, that has to be real, secondly, it has to be the act of the company that makes the product, and not the US government. Also, I think they might be able to justify it as market research or some other shenanigans if you have a shitty lawyer.
But if it's put there by a law-enforcement agency, it's legal, I think.
Anyway, I have Verizon for...everything in my house, internet, TV, phones. I don't know if they have cameras in the boxes, but mine is on top of my TV, and kindof at an angle, so they would really only see the top of my wall and the ceiling except for when I walk in front of it.
