I plan on renting out some storage space for a small studio, mainly for use between me and a friend of mine. My first buy will probably be an audio interface, Presonus' AudioBox 44VSL to start with something simple that'll come with it's own DAW. But since I'll have to mic up drums as well, 4 inputs may not be enough, so I was also thinking of saving up for Presonus' AudioBox 1818VSL with "2 Mic / Instrument + 6 Mic / Line." Is the 44 good enough to start out with as far as tracking for drums and guitar separately, or would it be a good idea to go with the 1818?
I don't know much about audio engineering, mixing, mastering, etc. But it's a learning experience for me. So any other tips as far as building a small hobby studio would be greatly appreciated.
