trouble saving gif imags

I've ben having trouble with gif images that I see inhe forums. The longer ones seem to run the first few frames then stop, but the shorter ones have no problems and work fine running to completion then loopping. I "save image as" for both is there something I'm missing for the longers ones that I should be doing instead to save them?

Is this correct, y/n?

bingo I just tried to upload to sapanda and the whole loop is there just won't play to completion. Is there a free software you'd recomend to replace this for my viewing of image files?
