hiya there.
ahh,the great outdoors,(sometimes) clear blue sky,tuna sandwich,mountains,forests,barns,baseball,diner,maple syrup,icewine.....
my holiday trip went(not so)smoothly, but it's still great.although i'm in a trip,i still try to fap things and get in touch with FAKKU.just can't do it without FAKKU.
but....phew.my holiday trip is over.now i'm in new york, kicking back, fapping, while waiting for my plane home.(waiting list)
i posts this to share all the amazing things i experienced during this trip to you guys.
(although most of this are quoted from my girlfriend's usa&canada travel journal which is completed just recently)
the only change i made is some "censor" issue and my name and i shortened it.
mnx's gf wrote...
day 1,7/22
me and my boyfriend mnx depart from jakarta, flying to jfk with china airlines, with transits at hong kong and anchorage.
24 hours of flight.and we passed the IDL,which means that when we'll arrive at jfk,it's still 7/22,apparently.
the airline foods sucks,as usual.transiting at anchorage is pretty cool, though, because it's one of the place which have
almost no chance for us to visit(because there's nothing to see, imo)
day 2,7/23
we arrive at jfk past midnight because of the delays to the bad weather.our longtime friend Rina(who knew about our "situations")
pick us up at the jfk.
we then drive straight to her condo in east village, manhattan.it's mostly sleepinging time today,as the flight really tire
us out.we did go out at night to grab some food,though....it was very kind of her&family to let us stay there for a while.
day 3,7/24
nyc city tour.Rina accomapied us in navigating our way with the maze-like nyc subway.we went to Times Square, the Empire State,
Central Park,Ground Zero,Yankee Stadium,boat ride,Broadway,strolling through the 5th Avenue,and lastly Rucker Park,where my bf played
a pick-up game with the locals and got beaten badly.i think he's a good basketball player by Indonesian standard, but americans
really are different.the meals today is mainly sandwiches and stuff.
day 4,7/25
today our trip is finally starts for real.Rina lent us her rickety old 97' corolla which has about 120.000 miles of mileage.
although we really can't complain.her family let us drive that for free, afterall.
the only bad thing about it is the fact that i had to drive(mnx doesn't have the IDP,so he's in charge of directions).che.
now we drive straight to Philly, and start sightseeing right away.went to the independence hall, liberty bell,us mint, and of course,
we eat the cheesesteak for lunch.i had the gino's,mnx stuff the pat's.they tastes just the same, imo.
tonight we spend the night camping in the woods.oh,and the views along the way is amazing.
day 5,7/26
allright,DC's turn.we went to the usual places,you know,mr.bush's home,capitol hill,the memorials,the museums(which is pretty cool,
considering that they're free),eat sandwiches,and staying at the HI(hostel international) hostel.ahhh,the backpacker's cliche....
day 6,7/27
mnx is a choco-crazy,so today we went to the Hershey's factory.there,he runs around like a 5yr old.....
it is a SWEET place, really.now that the chocofest is over,we tried to go out of the highway and get lost in the countryside.
we really did get lost.it's dark, and nothing's in sight.luckily we found a farmhouse.we gather enough courage to knock the house,
and you know what?the residents(herb,88 and ann,89) allows us to stay for the night.ann even cooks us some grilled chicken, gravy
and potatoes for dinner.they're the coolest old cracks we've ever met.one of their favorite band is Lamb of God,afterall.
thx god,bless them old cracks.
day 7,7/28
apparently,we're not that far off from where we're supposed to be.still,it's mnx's fault that we got lost,so today he's driving.
i know he had no IDP,but hell, who cares.
that said,we had a long drive to Niagara Falls, canada side.we arrived a bit late, and switched up the steer near the border.no prob.
there,it's the usual, casino, the ferris wheel...as for food and bed?the usual sandwiches and HI today.
day 8,7/29
we started out early today.the weather outside is nice.we take a stroll in the park near the falls, while waiting for the Maid of
the mist boat trip.the falls' picture perfect,so mnx got crazy with his SLR.that's over,we splurged a bit and had our lunch atop
of the skylon(which cost us 70$ total).the view from the top is breathtaking.then it's Toronto time.we arrived at about 1600 hrs.
we take a boat ride to get a clear view of toronto skyline, and stayed at the HI.
day 9,7/30
again,the usual.CN tower,rogers center,parliament building,city hall,etc.etc.
we got laundry and packing issues,so today we starts out late.
and a thing about Canada:the fuel prices is frickin' high!and so the food are.3$ dogs?crazy.bah.che.blech.
whatever.we continue our trip deep into canada to the Thousand island, and spendin' the night campin'
day 10,7/31.
boat trip around thousand island, where there's this freakin' huge castle in the middle of and island.
we splurged again, having a 28$ breakfast.i thought we really needed it though, because we haven't had proper breakfast lately.
it's Ottawa time now.in Ottawa, mnx went nuts with his camera, again.the Ottawa parliament buiding complex is pretty awesome.
(mnx's note:CURSE YOU WAAR!!!!HOW COME YOU LIVE IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CITY?UNFAIR!)
another thing about canada:lots and lots of queen victoria's statue.tonite we stay at a nice motel(free wifi!)
day 11,8/1
Montreal.
the beautiful churches(another mnx camerafest).the olympic complex.the huge cemetary.the quaint, nice little village feeling.
we stopped early today, because mnx got the asthma attack.thx god it's not getting worse, though.
the usual sandwiches for meals, motel for the night.
day 12,8/2
ahh....it's August.drive to Quebec, another place where mnx went nuts with his camera.i can relate to that, though.i myself went nuts here.
no words can be said to describe Quebec.everything is sooooooooooooooo beautiful here.and by devil's luck,Quebec is celebrating its
400th birthday this year(we are oblivious about this fact),so lots of people wearing victorian age costume.the athmosphere is festive.
lucky.
the downside:prices.the cheapest tuna sandwich we bought here is 3.5$.crazy.AND everybody speaks no english, just those FRENCH lipsync.
today we decided to go nowhere, just taking a stroll around the old town areas.eat sandwich in the park.feeding the birds.enjoy life....
....and do some stupid things.our budget is tight as it is,but we decided to splurge, staying at the Fairmont.strange,it's not fully booked.
either way,it costs us 275$ std rooms.
maybe it's the atmosphere, the french thingy and the sheer beauty of quebec that's making us nuts.
day 13,8/3
we decided to stay one more day in Quebec city.(glad that we add some extra days in the visa)
today we went to the Cidatel to see the city from above(it's pretty chilly and windy up here)
watched the guard-changing ceremony too(the goat....it's cute...),riding the boat tour,and again,enjoy life.just walking round the city and
joining the festivity is more than enough to keep us happy.yesterday's insanity is no more, today we're camping.
oh,and i'm buying some handmade necklace, bracelet and earring today.
day 14,8/4
driving back to ottawa to meet some of our relatives who live there(they don't know about our "situations")
it's no fun today.they just treat us to some expensive french restaurant(i hate french food),and keep pesking us with q's like:
how's A,how's B,what's C doin' now....sucks.thx god they ask mnx to cook some indonesian food, which is always a good thing.
hmmm....coconut rice,gado-gado and shrimp gulai for dinner.yum.
we stayed at a motel(wifi freebie!)just so that they cant bother us anymore.
day 15,8/5
long, long drive to boston today,so we started out early.arrived at around 1400 hrs, went straight to quincy market, fenway park,td banknorth
garden, boat ride....splurge a bit on some lobsters at a huge-ass chinese restaurant my friend recomemnded called JIN,drive away to NYC,
spend the night at a service area.
day 16(last day),8/6
drive to nyc, stay at Rina's house, hoping that the airline's WL is over, freeloading.the trip cost us a total of about 1200$(not including the
ticket back home),and to be honest,we'really broke right now.so,Rina ask mnx to cook for her family for a while, and im helping her cleaning her house.oh,and the car?4517 more miles under its engine.no problem with it.
what a durable baby.
ahhhh.....it's nice to relax for a while.
.....THERE.a very long post.but i don't know why i feel that i must post my journey.....
definitely love usa(although it's only the east coast) and canada.
and definitely lovin the peoples too.they helped us in a pinch, they're warm....
cool peoples.
amazing countries.
unforgettable journey.
