waterpaint question

there this vagabond picture i really want to paint on canvas but somehow i feel its going to fail, epically. this is a normal canvas (for oil/acrylic paints) and google says you can get watercolour canvases which bring my confidence lower.
long story short does water paint work on ordinary canvas?

So...watercolor wash paints or gouache watercolor on REGULAR canvas?
It goes through. Get watercolor paper if the canvas bulk is too expensive/hard to come by.
