also, not as funny but here in Missouri theres a small town called Tightwad.

I'm guessing it's because "fucking" in German doesn't mean the same as it does in English.

You got it right. I'm from a neighbouring country, and the explanation given to us was that the village is called like that after some old Austrian noble owning/founding the village hunderds years ago. Can't prove if that's right since I'm not from Austria.
Even the pronounciation of the name in German is different.

There used to be a French rugby player called Jean Condom, which raised sniggers when he played in English speaking countries but meant nothing in his native France.

Haha, imagine if there's a place named as such in the UK or US, peoples will get sued for "Insulting officers on duty".
