That is how it typically works, and yeah women can have them too. Although, they say it is less common in women.

i've had sexual dreams, but i always wake up before the end. i read that you can have them if you don't have a "sexual release" for some time, but i've never been able to go without sex or fappin for long enough to find out for myself.
