What were they thinking?

Once in a while we get those necromancers who bump old threads saying "Oh that's great" or shit like that. What's the point?
And seriously, why would you even bother digging up old threads? That's just retarded.

I don't see a problam the thread is still a important topic to some and the conversation could still continue with old & new members. The time between posts is irrelevant. People would rather you make a repeat thread than repeat a old one.

I'm curious about the reasoning behind their actions. I know this will continue to happen, but it makes no sense at all to me.

Well, if one's open enough to view it my way, i take it as a conversation of something that has gone old and forgotten.

Take it as though someone suddenly start talking about how the songs of backstreet boys really ring to his ears, i mean... i was like 8 when i listen it. 0-0

Still, it's something that he has never heard before and has come to like it. So it ain't something that i should go bash him up verbally for.

It's probably quite simple: noobs does not read the rules or even realize what necrobumping is, and after flipping through a few pages they see a post they wanna comment and do so, without thinking of the date. Then they'll get flamed and learn.

That probably has some sort of deep philosophical meaning to it.

it's not against the rules to necro bump; as much as I hate seeing it they aren't technically at fault for anything. It's simply considered bad form.

To me it doesn't really matter if someone necrobumps something or makes a new topic for one we already have. Dependent on the situation I might even prefer the necrobump (like if the thread is only a month or two old). What's annoying is when people necrobump things for no clear reason.

The rules says

"Do not necro bump threads.
-If a thread is more than two or three weeks old, do not post in it. Make a new thread. This mostly applies to the larger forums, such as Random but can apply to other forums in certain cases."

Even if you might not get banned for it, the rules at least state Please Don't Do It, at least not if you're not planning on continuing it somehow.

Maybe they don't know necroing is not good; they don't care; or the necromancers need the extra xp.

Again, Jake has said many times... We will not do anything about necroing old threads... Staff asking people not to do something and telling them not to do something are two very different things. However as with everything if someone decides to abuse that then we will step in and put a stop to the abuse.
