Who are the bigger Otakus?

This has rambled through my head, who do you think our bigger Otakus? People like us have achives of anime and manga we can get to quick, but if it wasn't for Japan we would be able to do this.

JAPAN. they're the prime source of manga, animes and hentai... we, on the other hand, are just the collectors of such materials because we tend to like products made by other countries, especially Japan. majority of Otakus are in Japan...

America has weaboo's. Weaboo's don't know shit.
Otakus are Guru's.

So Japan has Otakus.
America has weaboos.

I'm not an otaku.

Why is it narrowed just to America vs Japan? There's a lot of other countries who also enjoy anime.

And not everyone in America are weeabos, unless you're willing to include yourself with that generalization, Illumi.

Mostly weeabos are kids who first learn about anime and get really into a mainstream anime.

Japan obviously lol. People here just follow the Japanese.

Though Japan is the motherland for all Otaku's, arguing who has the biggest Otaku is like when you are 6 and on the playground saying things like my dad can beat up your dad, ect. It maters not on your nationality but your passion for anime, figurines, hentai, and manga.



Do not forget shouting things like Desu, and Kawaii at random.

I know Mexico likes its anime. I've seen more stores specifically for anime and manga while I visited my relatives in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Zacapu. Zacapu is a very rural place, but I still found three stores that sold manga, anime, and stuff. I also vacationed in Playa de Carmen and Cancun and found one, as well as magazine stances having a couple.

Japan is the main source, so obviously they're more otaku than anyone else in the world. Besides, they get first dibs on the load before we do.

Japan. They actually have real otakus, (mostly) everyone else are just pretenders.

Japan. If there's an otaku so fanatic that he'd kill people who mocks his favorite anime(Lucky Star in this case), it must be a very darned otaku-ish country.

Japan by far. I only have 3 friends that could be called legitimate otaku in the US.
ie. Each of them has 3+ book cases filled with manga, lighted display cases for figurines, buys anime and never opens them for collectors value, and one of them has a CRV with a picture of Konata's face from Lucky Star on the hood.
I know there are otaku all around the world, but most of them are either living in Japan or plan to move there.

On another note Japanese words do not have plural forms. It was just bothering me a bit for some reason.

What about people who are flat out fanatics?

I mean, there are anime otaku, but what about gearheads, hunters, caffeine addicts, trekkies, and others?


I think if you count obsessed freak for obsessed freak, we are proportionally the same.

However, Japan is more work oriented, and densely populated---making them stand out more.

Watching Lucky Star, and an interview saying "It's an understatement to say that the japanese has been crazy for anime." Though, one big otaku act of a non Japanese is to go to Japan. South Korea, too, I appreciate their fanatism for anime and videogames, their involved on newer Japanese animes. Philippines too got tons of anime in local channels.

In terms of population, Japan's otakus are outnumbered by the sheer number of otakus around the world.

But in terms of being one inside and out, Japan's otakus are the bigger real-deal otakus.
