If you follow the NHL you would know that the way things are going we will have a rematch from last years stanley cup finals so who do you think will win
I may a little biased because the Red Wings is my sports team. I am a full blown wingnut and cheer for them religiously. Sometimes my family and I drive to Nashville to watch them when they play the Predators. 8)
Anyways, I think the Wings will repeat. We only need one more game against the young Blackhawks to get to the finals and I'm pretty sure the Penguins won't lose 4 in a row to the Canes.
All you ever hear on the T.V. (unless you live in Detroit) is how awesome Crosby is and how awesome Malkin is and how many weapons Pitt has and how they are the best players in hockey. Sorry, but that is a load s***. They are fantastic players, don't get me wrong...but they are overrated imo. I only say they are overrated because of how much praise they get. There are numerous players on the Wings side that are just as talented as those 2 are.
Looking back to the last Stanley Cup Finals, the biggest threat to the Red Wings was not Crosby or Malkin....it was Marian Hossa. Hossa destroyed the Wings and he stepped up because Detroit was able to keep Crosby and Malkin at bay. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, Marian Hossa is a Red Wing this year. Red Wings will repeat and keep the Stanley Cup in Hockeytown. 8)
Sorry, I'm very passionate when it comes to the Red Wings. ;)
The league management has to be pulling for the Penguins. The lockout killed viewership, and they have to hope thet Ovechkin-Crosby can do for the NHL what Bird-Magic did for the NBA if they want to become commercially big again. Crosby's Pens winning the cup would be a step in that direction.
I am personally rooting for the Penguins since the other team that I thought was gonna win (boston) got knocked out...Still hard to believe they lost against Carolina
The Red Wings, as much as I hate them, will probably repeat and take home Lord Stanley's Cup again. No one in the east can beat Detroit. They just have too much depth and they're defense is excellent. Goaltending may be a slight problem, but they have the offensive firepower to keep the puck in the offensive zone.
Yeah... Iono. x.x Ever since the Sharks were knocked out... I haven't really been following. I'm sad... T_T
do any of you think it'll go to 7 games? Assuming it'll be Detroit vs. Pitspurgh
(I really doubt the blackhawks'll come back but the wings still gotta win a game)
Last year they won the cup in 6 games. I think that both teams since have improved their roster for the better
Anyways, I'm rooting for the Wing mostly because I'm getting tired of hearing about Crosby every single time I tune in to any sports channel. Seriously, people here in Canada treat him like his the savior of hockey. Some even consider the Penguins a "Canadian" just because he plays there. I'm sorry, but when they start comparing the kid to greats like Wayne Gretzky, it's just a matter of time before people start turning on him.
Wings won't beat Pittsburgh unless Lidstrom and Datsyuk get healthy.
Ironically, winning last night pushed the finals to this Saturday rather than a week later. They would have had more time to heal if they had lost and gone to game 6.
true but I think it's better to eliminate the hawks rather then pushing the series further for injuries to 2 players. Lidstrom I can understand but Datsuk's been strugling this year much like Malkin was last year lol. Can't wait for this saturday ^_^
Who needs Datsyuk when the Red Wings have talent from every line?! The Wings have shut Crosby and Malkin down almost completely in these past 2 games so I'm feeling the series will only last 4 or 5 games. Justin Abdelkader's goals in Game 1 and Game 2 were amazing! There is too much experience and depth on the Wings team for the Pens to compete with! I think Pens will play much better at home because that arena gets LOUD with those fans. Good series so far. 8)
There were 4 sweeps in a row from '94 to '98(the '97-'98 season being the last Stanley Cup Finals sweep):
'94-'95: New Jersey Devils swept the Detroit Red Wings
'95-'96: Colorado Avalanche swept the Florida Panthers
'96-'97: Detroit Red Wings swept the Philidelphia Flyers
'97-'98: Detroit Red Wings swept the Washington Capitals
Since then there hasn't been a sweep. That Red Wings team that consisted of Yzerman and the Russians (Konstantinov, Federov, etc) was such a good team! They had also won the '01-'02 season.
