Will you "Risk" your own life for the sake of others

Dante's post had a strong say on the subject, causing me to agree with it. I do believe, though, that if the time came, I know what I'd do. There are two people who I'd give my life up for at any given moment. It has something to do with what Dante said, the value that one places on their life and other's life. I don't place high value on my life, at all. So... I'm certain that for the right people... I'd give it up. Again, there are two people whose lives I do value, more than my own. So, yes.

Personally i don't value my own life enough to think about my own life. Its just my religion made me get into this mentality that god will save me that i have to trust myself to god then use my instincts. So yes i would

I would but it doesn't mean I'd die for them... if I die the person i saved or left behind would just feel guilty cause I died for his/her sake. In the end, my life that could've been worth much more, that I could've used to help more people just vanishes. For me it's better to live for something than to die for something. If there's a single chance that I could save the person along with my life then sure. If not then my answer would be total silence, because in reality I wouldn't know how to act in such a situation. You could say "I'd totally risk my life for you" to your girlfriend, mother, boyfriend or whoever but in truth you'll only know that when it comes to the situation when you REALLY need to choose.

If i could save someone and there was a chance that i die in the process, i'd go for it. The praise of being a hero is too appealing for me.

Wait, no offense to your death wish but how exactly would you know if this person whom you might be sacrificing your life for has a "better" life than yours, whose existence would be of more use to the world than yourself? This is of course if you're referring to any random strangers... will you even get the opportunity to ask the person, before you actually endanger yourself for his safety?


Unlike you, I'm not so interested to find out about "life-after-death" if there's actually any, knowing that I'll probably end up in hell anyway.

This. If you could die at any point, why not guarantee yourself a positive impact on the world? I think it would depend if it was a paralysed-by-fear kind of situation, though, or like you say if death was inevitable...I'd have to have a good think, and the time for action would probably have passed. :P
