Wireless Internet Question

In a few days i will be moving into my dorm, and from what i heard, THE INTERNET CONNECTION SUCKS. I could pray that they have a decent speed this year, but i'd rather have a back up plan.

Would a wireless card help the situation at all? Or would I have to pay 40-60ish dollars a month for broadband connect cards? I heard its possible to mooch off of other places, but wat are the advantages/disadvantages of doing so?

I live in the dorms on the state campus and the wireless internet is not as bad as it seems. It is actually pretty decent i stream videos and don't really notice much of a slow down. I think you should try out the connection first and if its not fast enough for you then feel free to buy cable/broadband, but the connection is not going to be as bad as it seems. My opinion may be biased because not all campuses are the same, but try out connection before doing anything costly.

I believe they are concerned about the speed of the wired connection.

@sevennights: Remember that if there are no wireless networks in range, having a wireless card will be useless.
