Zombies?

I get the idea that zombies came from voodoo and all but why do zombies moan or want to eat flesh? If they're the revived dead, why would they haunt the living? For fun?

Because if they didn't we wouldn't have games like left 4 dead, would we? ;)

Where did they get the idea that "If you revived someone who's meat is rotten, they will eat you."?

That's like asking why aliens always come in spaceships.

most modern depictions of zombies show them as mindless, reanimated corpses. hence, they don't haunt the living for fun, but their only instinct is the need for flesh to survive.

Now, try to think of the most common/plentiful beings on earth that the zombies would probably find with the greatest of ease...

I never understood this - if Zombies eat human flesh, wouldn't they somehow "starve" some day because

- all living people also turned into zombies
- all living people are dead

Voodoo zombies are not the same as virus zombies

Zombies are dumb and act by instinct. The question I have in mind is: Why flesh? Why not vegetables or just regular food for that matter?

The fact that zombies hunt for flesh is that hunger is the strongest primal instinct (next to sexual intercourse) they would probably eat any living cratcher but the movies dont show that ^^

Well, the zombie is probably kind of stupid, lacking a brain that can think, so I don't think it will go for "normal food". Also, it seems more realistic that a brain dead zombie would eat what is before them, which is mostly humans (unless they're in a supermarket or summin'), instead of growing vegetables in their little zombie backyard.

Making stuff man-eating, the best way tto attract the public's interest: Who the fuck cares about a moaning living dead guy when he brainlesly stands there or aimlessly walks arround? No, we need modivation to care...... I know! make them man-eating! Bang Shishigami

This is like questioning why vampires are shown the way they are these days. It comes from a lot of different myths (or in the case of zombies in some cases real life events) mashed together compounded with people adding new things to make an interesting story/horror movie and those outcomes being what people know about such things and then continuing that process. This is how we come to the point of Twilight glitter fairy vampires which have about as much in common with any original vampire myth as paper airplanes have to actual birds.

If zombies wouldnt be depicted as flesh hungry, what reason would there be for them to attack the protagonist thats entertaining and simple - coz its fun to watch or read

They go after people to bring peace and love, they moan because they are trying to say "MOM COME HERE! I HAVE GREAT NEWS! I AM STILL ALIVE" but since people cant understand "ughgh ohwowowo" they shoot them, so zombies get back at them by biting them in the face.

oh the idea of flesh eating zombies came from when european exploring went to africa and heard the stories and when he came back he warped the story or something like that.its kinda like what happen with dracula and stuff...

Romero who stereotyped the zombies as moaning flesh eating ghouls. And Michael Jackson who told us zombies can dance.And Valve who thought us how to survive an apocalyptic zombie planet by just forming groups of four.zombies aren't like they used to be.

It's supposed that the Voodoo idea originates from a minority of Haitian landowners, who would lure people into their houses (e.g. laying nails on the road to pop tyres). They would then poison the person, paralysing them, and (in the case of the example) lay them by the car as if they'd had a heart attack; once thought dead and consequently buried, they would dig up the coffin, and use plant-based drugs to subdue them in this 'zombie-like' state for work. The 'zombie-like state' bit is probably bollocks, seeing as keeping someone in a trance-like state for years is implausible, but it was a scary concept which ultimately propagated the myth. The modern zombie image of mindless humans, in pursuit of this one goal, were a natural progression of the horror aspect.

well as far as resurecting someone from the dead with magic whatever kind my thought on the reason they became zombies is beacuse if someone dies there soul leaves to the after life and even if it didint if someone was ment to die they die. you can bring them back but it would be an empty husk. wich is why the revert to a barbareic state with only the most basic instincts such as feeding. you can bring them back but there humantiy has left with there soul. and as to it spreading by direct blood contact, why thats a good moive plot ofcourse.

and as for zombies being created by a virus thats just humans being humans and fucking ourselfs over. i swear if 2012 isint some big magnetic pole shift thing and is a zombie apocolapys i will soooooooooo be pissed.
