Absolute truth?

Here's a funny thought. Both the belief in an omnipotent entity -- essentially god, and the belief in science both point to the existence of an absolute truth.

Humans chase these things because they wish to gain understanding of the world around them. Religion offers faith and guidance while science is grounded in facts. Both can attempt to pass their findings as the truth. One may be false, or perhaps they are both correct or incorrect. That does not disprove the existence of an absolute truth. But it's not until people try to twist words that things get out of hand.

This question made me ponder and realize (and maybe to agree with you) that we cannot prove absolute truths. In my earlier post i said:

But now that i thought about it twice, i can't figure out any absolute truths. Even in the earlier post (maybe unconsciously) i wrote "As far as we know", which by definition means that it isn't absolute.

The closest thing i can come up with an example of an absolute is math. Given the mathematical system we have created, it will always be the same, even though still, we could come up with new ideas that redefine the whole thing.

Looks like someone hasn't read Descartes. I'll have to "give her the D" so to speak;

Question; What leads you to believe I exist on the other side of the screen? Provide an elaborate answer if you want, but I'm not getting at too much yet.
