well,you got something wrong here.it's not islam who drives people to become an extremist,but it's the extremists who makes islam's name tarnished.
sure,there's this phrase in the Koran:
"kill all your enemy without mercy"
i'm sure all the extremists know this phrase.
but they forgot to read this:
"christianity and all other religion are your best friend"

the extremists mistook christianity(and other religion) as their enemy.
so it's not Koran's(and islam's) fault that it's became like this.
