If god doesn't want you to masturbate, why did he give us a libido? This is one of the things that made me Atheist. God says we can't do certain things but he puts it in our presence as if we were set up for failure.
[Assuming I share your religious views]
The libido exists to motivate the human race to perpetuate itself.
It doesn't matter what someone's belief system is. We're only human and in the bible it says that even if you look at a woman sexually, you have sinned. I feel that it's unhealthy to keep sexual urges, especially strong ones, pent up.
"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:28
Now, if one man looking at a woman and "lusts" for her is bad, how do you pick out your spouse? Love at first sight? Just plain love? Love and Lust each share a hand (one hand not two), they are connected and therefore when one affects you for long enough, the other jumps in. Friends with benefits don't exist for long, and the same applies to platonic relationships.
The bible is old. It follows the logic that people will be together forever. As in like the 30 years people lived back before medical science. The bible doesn't say anything about divorces does it? Yet people fight over it like its an epidemic.
My Opinion: Not really offensive but still.....
The bible is NOT something to mold your life after. What it preaches is values and morals, not a lifestyle you should follow. Tuning a moral compass, if you will, and as we all know a Compass has WAY MORE than 2 directions.
