Colleges really worth what we pay for them?

It has probably already been touched upon, but worth is a matter of perspective.. for some it might be worth it but to others it might not. It really depends on how you utilize it i think, and as long as our parents force or encourage us to go to college or increase our education, they must think it is worth it. Of course the price of a good education is marked up, but thats just the business side of things. In the present perhaps it might seem like it isn't worth it, but a few years down the road we will (hopefully) probably still be sending our kids to college.

It's been my experience--which pertains only to schools in the U.S.--that the "college experience" is overrated and it's usually the social stigma of having a college degree that drives most people to put up with a broken education system.
Now... I have a college degree and have even been offered a scholarship to continue my college education without any worry of debt. I rejected it. Why? Probably because I'm a stubborn asshole who refuses to support an inefficient and failing system.
I've found that general success in life, which is what I believe all schools should aim their students toward, can be accomplished almost exclusively with the utilization of two things: knowledge and motivation. In many cases, you can bypass the college arena entirely and make more money than any of your college grad friends (then rub it in their faces like a boss). It depends on how much you know and how badly you want to achieve your goals.

On a personal note, I go to Brigham Young University in Utah..(I am not mormon though) I spend about 17,000 every year or so. I have one loan of $25,000 and the rest I pay in cash. Anyway, education in BYU is pretty good but I don't think it is worth the price.
We are with competition with every one. Knowledge is power and to get power must. Cost something. We can't just let everyone become smart and there's many reasons why.
