G.E.D. Or HS Diploma?

There's nothing wrong with a GED. I have a HS diploma, but the material you need for a GED is much more practical than all the bullshit you learn in high school. I've taken GED tests for my friends online, which one still owes me an ounce of pot for, but that's beside the point. The fact of the matter is that GEDs or other equivalent diplomas are no better or worse than an actual HS diploma.

Me and my coworkers were having this exact same discussion today.

And for the argument that employers prefer a HSD over a GED, I find that to be baloney. In a world where employers don't even confirm what college you went to why in the world would they check what high school you went to? As long as you can do the fucking job, most employers don't give a shit.

The main (supposed) difference between a high school diploma and a GED is you should get payed more for a high school diploma. I don't know if this is true, nor do I attest that it is, it's just the propaganda that teachers tell students to keep them from quitting school for a GED.
There are also some jobs (I believe, but I can't think of one right now.) that require at least a high school diploma and a GED does not suffice.

People have been talking about how a HSD is more prestigious than a GED. Well technically under the law/system, they are exactly the same. Now employers are not supposed to chose a high school grad. over someone with a GED solely because they have a HSD but it does happen. It's a trade off.

A GED and a high school diploma are the same. They're only different in how people may react to which one you have.
For instance, if you have a GED, people may assume that you slept through class and skipped school regularly to smoke pot. They may assume that you got your GED years later because you finally got some sense in your head and realized that you needed it to get a good job. They may think you're a lazy idiot who doesn't want to actually work hard.
That's not always the case, but that's what some may people may think. It's stupid to think that every person who got their GED is, well, stupid.
Of course, I also think it's stupid to go through four years of high school (something that is mandatory, at least in the States) and not get a diploma. But there are situations where that's not right, like when a person has to drop out of school due to illness or extreme poverty or whatever.

As for the topic, same discussion I had with a friend today and he told me that a GED is equal to a HS and this is where I came in and read the thread.

HSD, i found high school to be fun, i passed all the standard tests to graduate freshmen and sophomore years so there is a lot of waiting and free time. but during that time you get to have a lot of fun that you otherwise would never get to see. but I'm told that it really doesn't matter either way when your getting into a college or finding a job.

High school was mostly a bother for me. I lot of things happened in those four short years that were also a bother. But mostly, I didn't do anything and ended my senior year a half credit short of graduation. But they gave me this mail-in program, which was just...absurdly easy, and I got that half credit and got an HSD the next year.
I don't really think it matters, though, it was just easier for me to do that than get my GED.
I still didn't go to collage and at the job I have now it doesn't matter if I had either.
Or so it seems.
