Human Sexuality Survey

In my human sexuality class we are required to take a survey and get responses to see if our hypothesis is correct. Currently, my group has hypothesized that "Men between 18-25 go for looks in their partners than other age groups and genders." If you guys can take the survey I would really appreciate it.

So what are your opinions on this matter? I think that it really depends on the person, but in general I really think this is actually true, especially with society emphasizing highly on sexuality, this seems to be the major trend. I wouldn't be surprised though that this also may be the same with women as well.

I want to say no its not based on looks but that would be rather naive of me.

I don't think this is so much limited by age. There isn't much difference in attraction preference between a 40 year old and a 20 year old. Especially in western society. Men and women are primarily driven by appearance first, followed by either personality or financial status, with intellect last.

For men finance isn't an issue unless she makes much more than you, that can make you feel less manly. But for women, they like to argue that fact but in all honesty, celebrity walks in the room, they all want to be with that person.

We in western society live in a very materialistic lifestyle. Your worth sadly is based on your looks, wealth and social status.

I would agree completely. I am in the age between 18-25, and everyone older than 25 has told me that as they grew older, their preference went from the top part of their partner's body to the lower parts. In other words, when they were young, they mostly cared about how their partner looked, and as they got older they looked at their breasts, then to their stomach, to butt, eventually to their thighs. Just from my surroundings though.

Speaking for myself, I have a pretty open pallet when it comes to looks so I can find most women physically attractive but in order to be interested in starting a relationship with them, I'm going to need to click with them personality wise.

I believe people from 18-25 definitely do go for looks. I say people because I believe both genders are guilty of this. But some people mature faster and learn it isn't the looks that are important but younger people do especially look for more attractive mates.

I can say with honesty I have caught myself doing this.

I'm at university and a lot of my friends are guys who go out to clubs looking for sex. I can guarantee every single girl in their phonebook is objectively attractive . Whenever they tell me about their adventures they will mention level of attractiveness or how a girl's look put them off if they werent hot.

I think older people will often be looking to settle down and so for that reason looks won't matter as much, but if the partner is reliable,has financial stability and has brains , those will be much more desirable.

Well naturally this is true for my friends and myself. Being a 19 year-old, I'm not really ready for a super long time commitment and am just looking for fun until it's time to commit to the special lady I'll find in my life. However, there is a girl that I've really been having my eye on for a long time and I always wanted a happy future with her...

My father told me that the general phrase for our age group is "Looks draw us in, personality makes us stay".

I'm 20, and I realize looks do matter a lot more than it should, unfortunately. I guess one reason is because we're hitting further adulthood, and we're becoming impressionable all over again. We feel as if in order to be secure, we want a partner we can be proud of having? I can't speak for everyone though.

I try to minimize this as much as possible, of course. Right now, I'm only looking to surround myself with good company--friends--and I realize to that end, looks hardly matter. Even still, I guess looks literally is the first thing we see in a person, and we can't help but be swayed by it when forming a first impression of others.

Interestingly enough though, I'm oddly very keen on a person's voice instead. If I can't stand the way their voice sounds to me, both male and female, then I find myself avoiding conversation with them as much as possible. I suppose I'm sensitive with my ears.

Like I know this one guy who... doesn't have the perfect singing voice. When he harmonizes, he sounds like a baby in the early stages of crying. His speaking voice is not very different.

Okay I am 22 as for me I don't mind much about looks. To me to find myself attracted to the person I must pretty much enjoy being around them. Though I'll wholely admit that I fall into several groups where live that kinda would make me the bane of exsistance in some people (Fuck the Bible Belt.

That being said whatever being little quirk people have and their looks are just a bonus to me when I am looking for a partner

I'm a girl but i don't go for looks i'm demisexual when it comes to real men.
i have preferences like i wouldnt want a much older guy or an obese one, but if i were to love him i could live with flaws.

I think when it comes to real love most people, men and women, care about personality over looks. Maybe that's naive but i have faith in humanity. *nya*

Yeah, I've stood by that line since I was 17. I'm 20 now. Still on the hunt :D

Looks are important for a reason. I mean, you want to wake up next to your significant other and go "God damn, that is a sight to behold" instead of waking up like:

So yeah. But personality is what anchors it. I like to balance both, not just love a looker and hate every other part of my relationship except the sexy times.

i don't go for looks had the option for someone nice looking, turned them down cause we had nothing in common, now im getting married to the one i chose over her cause we are like twins lol, and shes not as society would put it "sexually appealing".

I can tell you doesn't fit completely. I think all men tend to go based on looks in some sense no matter the age. A guy I know who is 40 always tells me he "doesn't want personality he wants a hot girl with hips to rock." I think each gender bases a partner on looks no matter age, but as you get older you tend to overlook those things cause think the sense of reproduction or just ideal of loneliness will kick in.
