If you really think about it, is there really such thing as "Peace"? Though we may live in an age of so-called "Peace", what about those petty arguments between people or those full scale wars we see? Can "Peace" really be achieved?
I remember thing of something said by a teacher of mine..
"If there was the worst kind of animal, then it would be a human."
Doesn't that mean that like, if we exist, "Peace" cannot exist? I'm just really confused..
Peace is differently defined for each individual. How ironic though, a persons perspective of peace can be different from another, in which, in my case means the peace once withheld is now suddenly voided with our two different perspective definitions of the word "peace".
As gameon said, its up to personal defination of peace.
If we are considering a full scale absolute worldwide peace, zero conflict, zero wars, zero suffering in the whole world. I believe it is impossible, as long as there are at least two or more humans in this world, there is bound to be a certain degree of conflict.
My personal view of peace, however, is peace and happiness within my family, friends, and surroundings. I wont dare to dream for world peace, I only try to maintain peace around me.
Each people has different their own individuality, thus the incompability between two will occur. This without the ability to adapt to the new situation, that will lead to a misunderstanding. From that conflict will be born. Then the thing expand and start a war.
We are currently at war I believe, against terror and criminals and all the lot - so we are not in peace. We just dont see it happening in front of us, the conflict. I guess the entertainment industry is doing its job and is diverting our attention effectively too.
Peace is not profitable, I dont think the government(people in it with personal interests) would allow it, it would create enemies if need be just for the military funding alone.
Great vids. Really entertaining. I would +rep you, but I can't do it yet. By the way, does that old man ever talk?
Anyway, I don't think world peace can be obtained. Maybe it can never be obtained. There's always going to be human conflict so long as humans exist. I've heard several different anime characters say that its in humanity's nature to destroy itself. And while I'm not that pessimistic, I do see some truth to that.
The only way for true peace is to create a third impact so that everyone becomes one.

No, he doesn't. But somehow that makes him the most hilarious part of their show.
Well no you're not ever going to have a world where nobody argues or gets into minor fights but there's no real reason why there have to be wars either.

I got neg repped over this comment? How sad this is.
Your right about peace being impossible to achieve. But your last statement was wrong. The absence of peace isnt the fault of humanity. Conflict is found just as easily in the natural worldWhether its fighting over territory or a mate, there will always be conflict in the natural and civilized world.
Pen and Telle'rs view that trade is the way to promote peace is simplistic.
Some wars are fought on idealogy. Sure, trade is more beneficial. But who wants to live the good life when infidels/commies have taken over the holy site/this third world country? Or how about "give me liberty, or give me death"?
And most wars are fought because side A wants a more cushy life and is willing to take side B's resources. Why trade when you can take? See the age of colonial expansion, or even the current US-Iraq conflct. The great empires could have just set shop and traded with the natives, but felt that they could generate more cash if they took control of the local's natural resources.
These are the two reasons why world peace is impossible. There will always be people who would rather die (or kill) for what they believe in. That includes things like religion, or more secular ideas like freedom and independence. And there will always be people who are greedy, who are willing to take far more than they are willing to give.
