THOUGHT they did? Now I'm not saying do away with the death penalty, but i don't see why we can't just hand them over the victim's family for a week to torture them in any way possible. But of course that's morally wrong. But sentencing them to a living hell isn't. And plus, the American public believes that if you'll kill once, you'll do it again.
Bah revenge is for emo, it doesn't solve anything. The cage is a easier way to do cause rehabilitating people cost a bunch and the success is not guaranted. Killing criminals is obviously the easiest way of all but it's also lead to tons of morally / judiciary dilemmas so it's plainly a waste of time, serenity and money. Not that all countries bother with these dilemmas, some take shortcuts...
