Nuclear Weapons Influence

Now I was just reading this article:link.

And I thought that this was an interesting subject to put forward. I myself am not entirely in accord with the concept of nuclear weapons being "war stoppers".

On the one hand, it is true that to this day, there has been no single dissuassion method more efficient than nuclear threat.

On the other, there is such risk in the possession of these weapons that in my opinion, its existence speeds up the race to the atom of other adjacent countries, making tensions go higher much faster.

Indeed, it is true.

Nuclear weapons are viewed as the ultimate peacekeepers, a little like the gods with their almighty power that should rain down on the infidel or the disruptor.

But again, these "gods" are controlled by humans. And I just can't see them as entirely "peaceful". they remain weapons of mass destruction and death, and, well, I would consider them as more advocates of war and tension than their peacekeepers.

Please share your opinion on the matter of the influence of nuclear weapons in modern warfare and diplomatic situations.

Nuclear weapons are a danger to everyone and the only thing keeping other countries from using them against each other are the consequences they wil have to face after they use them. Look at Pakistan and India and how the US has to kiss both of their asses to prevent further conflict between the countries. Nuclear weapons only cause fear within a country for example the US constantly trying to prevent both Iran and NK from obtaining their weapons or the Cold War and Nuclear Brinkmanship.

There is no logic in weapons being " Peacekeepers ", it would only shut people up and " force " not to conflict with each other, especially if it was a nuclear weapon, not only would people shut up, but also be scared and would live in Fear.

Nuclear weapons does indeed influence the gameplay once it is involved, however, if weapons are considered to maintain " Peace & order ", then what does "Love & freedom" mean ... " Chaos & despair "?

In my opinion, nuclear weapons are considered much more than just your ordinary run-on-the-mill weapons, it's actually something that can kill people and with massive damage as well .... but why threat a foreign country with "innocent civilians.

Why is nuclear weapons created in the first place if they knew it would create that much damage?
Ask yourselves that. My personal answer would be for selfish reasons to stay in power and keep order for their own benefits.

Nuclear weapons are nice to have in video games and see in movies, but to actually imagine this in reality .... the thought that such weapons actually exist in our timeline and exists in general is pretty damn horrific.

I watched clips of nuclear weapons being tested and fired,and because of that I became a pacifist and I am proud of that as well.

I have seen enough weapons being fired in the sky to see where this is going.

Nuclear weapons? You mean those bombs which create mass mayhem and environmental damage, yet Al Gore and the rest still have the nerve to blame us for environmental damage, and even want us to give money over it?

In all seriousness, I am not opposed to the idea of Nuclear Deterrence, but I am quite worried the people in power right now have no qualms about actually launching one and annihilating thousands of people with it...

What is the ultimate purpose? To prevent imperialist invasion. Had Gaddafi for example had a nuke, we would have seen it launched when NATO began to bomb him.

Except for the fact that it can lessen the bloodshed for both sides, pretty much proven with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We could have probably had deaths to the millions if an invasion of Japan happened in the war itself. Kill thousands to save millions, along with the fact that nations like North Korea SHOULD NOT have any sort of firepower. It is a huge responsibility and problem with nuclear weapons, otherwise we would be hearing stories of rogue nations attacking others continuously and having more wars than ever nowadays.

It is easy to just go to the pacifist route and say "nukes should not exist", theories and hypotheses that only show the "good side" are never good.

Yes you are right about that and I couldn't agree more about nuclear weapons lessening the bloodshed from both sides.

However, one must ask oneself, " Why does such firepower exist ... when there are so many solutions?"

Who knows .... many people must think of a danger-free strategy to maintain peace worldwide ( which I believe they have but are not doing it).

To keep the population under control with weapons IN GENERAL is just another way of saying "If you mess with the system we'll mess with YOU!"

Many innocent people have died from such horrific man-made weapons, even though these poor civilians have nothing to do with it.

One must ask this question .... if these so called higher ups wish for the good of mankind, then why create weapons? .... So that they can still be kept in power, they have this fear of NOT being in control, this thought of everyone truly being independent troubles the minds of these greedy misfits ... so they create an illusion based system to keep everyone in control, and stay in control.

My crazy theory on this ... but what I am saying is, that FEAR is what is driving them to try desperate measures to stay on top ... because they don't wish to live like everyone else, they are superstitious people with believes they are the chosen ones... which in my opinion is more fucked up than the devil himself.

Keep in mind that conventional warfare was easy back then, lose once? Come back later with a stronger and/or bigger army and try to win. Once they know that the other country has a nuke, it isn't easy to just attack. It does help maintain the peace between the Koreas for example. There are far too many factors, so I just picked the most easiest ones and a generalization.

Everyone has that fear of not being at the top anymore, it's normal.

Yeah .. exactly that .... which is why nukes exist ... so that one nation can be on top of the other in ranks.

The one who control Nukes are humans, and I don't expect much from us humans anyway.
Conflict between us humans is inevitable, as long as there is conflict, there won't be any peace. Peace that we're talking about is just an illusion.

Again, EVERYONE has that thought. Even the people who want to remove 'corrupt' politicians and take their place. EVERYONE wants that power, they just don't express it.

Threatening with a "nuclear weapon" to maintain peace and order?

Sure it makes total sense, using the worlds most dangerous weapon just to stop a little conflict.

Any conflict involving nuclear weapons has a negative meaning to it, and to reply to the title of this thread, YES, nuclear weapons does indeed influence the gameplay of things.
