My personal opinion is no one deserves respect right off the bat they have to do something to earn it, being raised how I was the standard was proving strength but people can prove their worth in other ways.
Now to put a basic summery of my view on respect I don't care what race, gender, religion, political view, group(social, political or activist) family, friends or who you know, fuck all that, what is it that you personally an individual human being have done to deserve respect.

How about respect over the net? ,typically in forums?
So is that why some people cus and ridicule right off the bat over other people's courteous views about a certain topic over the net is because they have not earn the standard of respect one has accustomed himself/herself to? So what if there is a man who chose not to speak of the time he lost his limbs while trying to save a mother and son's life from a burning house and that this individual is now unfit to work and spend his time on the net but chose not to divulge his identity or what he's done. Does that mean that he/she have to post his actions via sig to earn respect from people he/she do not know until such time that this declaration of heroism be accused of bragging or making stories up by others? Respect is a broad word, and because of the internet it is now a case to case basis. We all have standards but sometimes these standards do not fit depending on the situation. So I choose to respect first then judge later by how he/she responds. Make no mistake my friend I respect your dedication to power = respect but do realize that not all of us are warrior built such as you physically or mentally but we strive to be in other fields so everyone is unique and important in each and every way, and yes sometime rude people tend to be funny too when directed at the right people who are rude themselves.
