Yes because sitting in a chair forever is so much better for your health. Exercise actually helps to lengthen you life span, running has yet to be linked to serious problems in later life.
For me, running is all about long distance. I ran cross country in high school and got to the point where I was running 25-40 miles a week. I've slowed down a lot in a couple of years though. Now when I go for morning runs before class, my legs feel fine, but it's my upper body that can't keep up. :)
