2) I can buy a $150 "assault weapon" and get a $2000 tax credit for it? Sounds good to me! I never say no to free money.
3) Registration of all firearms has been done in three english-speaking countries: Australia, England, and Canada. In two of those cases the registry was used to enforce confiscation several years later.
In Canada's case the registry was partially repealed before that could happen.
So you can perhaps see why we don't want to go down that road, yes?

Also the US is flooded with to many firearms that it would be improbable and a huge tax hike for the citizens in order to try and confiscate the firearms. Anyone who votes for that is crazy and should be laughed out of their office.

By keeping public lists of gun owners, and requiring intrusive psych examinations and home inspections to be allowed to own a gun, for example. All of which are in the set of New Jersey bills we're fighting right now.
I'm not trying to fight with you. I'm just trying to understand how you can think we're paranoid and crazy when the threat is so open and obvious.
If someone's scared of mind-control satellites they can't prove exist, that's paranoia.
If I announced in public that I'm going to burn down your house the minute I can get away with it, it's not paranoid to be nervous when I start asking you questions about your gas line and sprinkler system shutoff...

Psych evaluations is something I do support, I don't think a schizophrenic should have the ability to own a gun do the harm they can cause others along with themselves. Psych evaluations aren't intrusive especially when it comes to safety, as for home evaluations well as long as the owner owns a gun safe and they use it than fine.

The problem is that introduces a layer of bureaucracy that offers a high potential of abuse. It allows a doctor to prevent someone from owning a gun even if there is no legitimate cause to deny. The AMA is openly anti-gun and it would be fairly difficult to fight such a label once given.
