I'm not sure South America and North America will ever be "one thing" or Russia and Asia for that matter. Europe though almost certainly will.
I disagree, there are too many different cultures and rivalries in Europe for them to ever completely unite. Sure they'll always have the European Union, but that only keeps peaceful terms.
I could see the U.S. joining with Canada and Mexico, but never South America. All of the rebels and anti-americans in some of those countries would just be too big of a problem for us to deal with. Basically, its not worth it.
Russia/Asia will never happen either. China would never join with Japan because of issues dating back to WW2. Plus, Asia has a large amount of belligerent countries such as the Middle East (yeah, im grouping them all together.) and North Korea. Modern "western" countries like Japan would never want to join forces with them.
I do believe that a loose one world government could be a possibility. Never a true world power, just like a more unified U.N.
