But you are totally right, we do lose those habitats and such for farmland, and eating vegan/vegetarian is still subject to genetic engineering, same as the meat industry. I guess from their perspective knocking off a habitat is only killing thousands once as opposed to setting up a facility and killing thousands a day. Its still killing though...but whatever, just eat what makes you happy and if you dont like the footage of animals being killed, dont watch it.
Actually, killing off a habitat is worse than killing thousands in the facility.
Because those animals in the facility were raised for that purpose. The ones who lose their habitats from just bad luck and die off, and aren't able to replace their population and such.
And the don't forget that there are a shit ton killed yearly just from getting caught in the farming machinery as well.
