I think countries should pay more attention to peoples mental health than they are currently, but i am against forced psychological testing just because my brother wants to buy a gun. That is wrong!




Should everybody in the family have a driving license before anybody can buy or have car?

Should it be illegal for parents to have alcohol in the house if their kids are not old enough to drink them selves?

Why test only the family, why not the neighbor or the whole neighborhood? Someone outside the family could be mentally unstable!

Saying it is a security measure is not enough reason to force people who have nothing to do with guns to take psychological tests. The only people the government should test in this regard are the people who are getting the license and part of that license should be training of how to store the gun properly.

There is kids who steal the family's car, and others who steal their parent's alcohol.

I don't think a neighbour could be close enough of the family to know where your gun is hidden. Except if you are dumb enough to share that information with them.



No one want to have his entire family involved in his act of buying a gun.

I don't trust peoples enough to take care of their own shit, if they have something dangerous for others, this is their responsibility to avoid others from accessing it, it's necessary to make sure they understand the weight of the responsibility.

The responsibility of the gun is with who ever is getting the gun. He/she has the responsibility of making sure nobody else gets the gun in the family the same way an individual has the responsibility to make sure his/her friends or who ever is visiting his/her house doesn't have access to the gun.

Part of the gun license should be training of how to store the gun properly.

Just because a person might know the location of the gun is not good enough reason to force people to be psychologically tested by the government.

here is my view on guns:
as they are like cars in the aspect they can kill definitely need licenses/background checks/possibly a basic battery test to know that they are sane(nobody wants a a guy who thinks hes fighting aliens on the streets with a weapon)and if people act like they do at my job(like morons) i wouldn't trust them with a gun and i sadly live in a state where the governor thought "guns everywhere" is a good idea like hes never seen a western movie with a shootout in a saloon like drunk people and guns work well together honestly if you need a gun if its for personal defence why not a tazer or a "smart gun"(when the tech becomes better)

i suppose for anybody who doesnt work in that field we may not have the full picture on whats really going on idk

I don't want to take sides in this argument, seeing as I lean a little both ways and mostly understand the no-gun side, leading to a non-conclusive opinion. But ignoring this... Reading this bit of your comment you made me wonder this.

I think last year or the year before that, a child obtained his parents shot gun and blew a whole threw another child chest. Then there was Columbine massacre. (I'm too lazy to bother identifying the numerous cases of children obtaining firearms). But the fact is, it happens a lot, and it is never "just" that family's problem when it does happen. Every person that child can come in contact is at risk as well when a gun is within their reach.

With how sex offenders are regarded, with the necessity of informing neighbors of the fact, would you say gun owners should be held in the same regard? So that parents know to not let their children play with another child whose parents own a gun and may manage it however they like, like say, in a desk drawer?

My problem with the "something needs to be done" crowd is that they either don't want responsibility or they see that there are a group of people out there that are not responsible enough in their eyes so "something needs to be done" and their solution is usually some government bureaucracy. Government bureaucracy tends to either not do anything about the "problem" or make the "problem" worse.

No, they should not have to inform the neighbors. Being sex offender is a crime (or you committed a crime), owning a gun is not a crime. I mean should neighbors inform other neighbors if they have knives in their house, because the children might use those knives and they are stored in kitchen drawers?

I totally understand that people fuck up with guns, but they fuck up with a lot of things. You started bringing examples of children/young people getting their hands on guns and causing damage as a result. Not only were those examples years apart from each other, the number of accidental deaths by guns is very small (in USA), around 150 a year for people under 17. Should the rest of over 300'000'000 people be punished because a very very very small minority fucks up with guns (this was just the accidental deaths under 17 years old in USA). I don't have any more statistics, but without a doubt there are bigger accidental killers of children in America, but those things are brushed away only as accidents and nothing more.

The better solution is more education rather than people having to inform everybody they have this and that in their house. They can do it if they want to, but no, they should not be forced to do it.

The same thing with the job applications. Being sex offender and owning a gun have nothing in common so you should not have to inform your boss in a job interview that you have guns in your house.

You also brought up the example of Columbine school shooting. I would argue that people who are fucked up in the head and want to hurt other people can get their guns illegally as easily as legally. Yes, some type guns might be harder to obtain illegally, and the hassle of getting the illegal gun might deter some nuts from doing anything other than suicide, but the truth is troubled people will find their way to break our hearts.

I would also argue that if you are the only country on the planet where there is a massive school shooting every year, that the problem might be also the mental health rather than the gun laws. If we fixed the mental health we would have lesser nuts, but if we simply ban guns we would still have the nuts planning to do something else like bombs for example.

Its just a matter of properly enforcing the law I guess? Here in my country (I'd rather not mention XDDD) there's a gun control law but the authorities seem to be lax since anyone can buy guns if they have connections so yeah, even if there are rules as long as nobody gives a fuck about it then it's pretty much useless.. Gaaaahd what a long speech for me HAHAHA!
