So what will happen? Will Fakku be forced to take down everything except the h-manga they have the rights to distribute?
Probably. But with that said, Fakku could possibly survive this and move forward. What worries me is that all other (unofficial) manga/anime/hentai operations might vanish quickly under this. I don't advocate for piracy but we owe almost everything to these people. If manga was never scanned and exposed to Western audiences it probably wouldn't be what it is today. We probably would not have any English publishers whatsoever. And Western manga publishing still needs more traction, I think. While non-H publishers are releasing more and more English content, it's still safe to say that the vast majority of Japanese manga will not see any Western exposure without scan groups. There won't be publishing without demand and there can't be demand if people don't know it's out there. As for hentai the outlook seems even worse. Fakku wants to publish
everything and that's awesome (and IMO just a little too ambitious) but it's still limited to
everything Wani. Which means the rest is up to Project-H. As far as I know there's nobody else in the business. Ultimately these businesses still need time to grow and I think trampling over file sharing will likely inhibit that growth. This should also apply in the general case.
Thanks for bringing this up. It's been flying under the radar for a while and still doesn't see enough media coverage. As fans of Japanese culture we should make sure this doesn't pass. This sounds like a joke but I'm dead serious when I say:
it's our porn for crying out loud.
