First off I wanted to know what kind of gamer are you? If you're a hardcore gamer you can choose a PS3 or 360. If you're a casual gamer go with the Wii. I owned a Wii and a PS3. I just have to say I gave up on the Wii and their E3 performance was the weakest.
I would have to say go with the PS3 because its really opening up and a lot of triple AAA titles are releasing this year and more to come (not to say the 360 doesn't have titles coming either but I think the PS3 has the upper hand right now with the direction that they're going).
Here are just a few games slated for this October LittleBigPlanet, Far Cry 2 (multiplatform), BioShock, Fallout 3, Guitar Hero: World Tour (multiplatform), SOCOM: Confrontation and Dead Space (multiplatform). Not to mention that there are already great titles on the PS3 right now such as Uncharted, MGS4, GTA IV, Warhawk, Resistance, BF:BC and even PSN/Downloadable games ie PAIN, PixelJunk Monsters, Bionic Commando Rearm (multiplatform) and more.

The PS3 may have a free online system, but overall Microsoft has the best online experience.
I would have to agree. The PS3's online system use to be inferior compared to Live's online service but all of has changed recently.
As for the the online service comparison between the 360 and the PS3, they are both practically equal because Sony started to step their game up and delivered many features to their online network that were missing before. Once Home comes (and once Home comes other features will arrive also) there is really nothing the PS3 is missing compared to the 360's online service.
And speaking of the Blu-ray, it is making a difference hence its victory in the 'format war' and not to mention it does leave an opportunity for better games. Recently id software said the 360 would need 3-4 discs to be able to play the game Rage (that's gg if you ask me), but they ended up agreeing to 2 discs, whereas the PS3 will only need 1 disc. Now with all that stuff on 2 discs it's going to need to be compressed badly. Don't expect graphics to be up to par with the PS3 when you need more than 2 discs for a game.
If you're on a budget then you may have to re-think which consoles you want, but if you have cash to spare you might as get a bang for your buck and go with the PS3 bundle they're releasing in November. A 160GB PS3 a copy of Uncharted and a voucher to download PAIN on the PSN. You also get a DualShock 3 price of $499.99. The only problem is that it doesn't have backwards compatibility if you do want to play PS2 games then I suggest you get the original PS3, unless you already have a PS2.
Also the 360 is still a problem with the RROD and it has only cost M$ a total of $990 million, now that's a lot for M$ even if they have deep pockets.
