And you are basing that judgment of capitalism on what?

Okay, maybe you have more freedom in a communism, I wouldn't really know since I haven't actually seen one. I retract my statement.

United States has lost interest in exporting democracy to other countries now so its much easier to export capitalism instead. American corporations and politicians don't care if a country has a Communist,Fascist,totalitarian,oligarchies or theocratic government...as long as we can place a McDonalds there everyone is happy.

Plenty of harsh dictatorships or Communist nations around the world maintain some form of Capitalism like Vietnam,Saudi Arabia,Yemen and China.So long as oil keeps flowing and the cheap goods come to our docks the US won't take a stand for liberty.

Fear of communism was spread by the upper class and organized crime syndicates of the 50s.The 1% and the Mafia considered Communism a threat because it would end their way of life,living in comfort and luxury while they maintained a stranglehold on the American worker class and the natural resources of other poor nations like Cuba and Colombia.I can understand why they feel threatened.

Sicilian Mafia,Triad and other organized crime syndicates noticed that Communist governments showed no tolerance for their existence and were stamped out brutally in countries that had their criminal operations.

After Castro took Cuba,the Sicilian Mafia could no longer continue their work since
the Communists had no need for their services and refused the bribes.

Same thing happened after China was swept to Mao,the Triads were getting hunted down and most fled to Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Still many of these syndicates have considerable influence/resources so they sometimes assisted in harassing left-wing governments by paying for spies,bribing police,inciting riots etc.

In theory, Communism CAN work, but in practice, that hasn't always been the case. The main reason why it hasn't always worked is because of the INDIVIDUALS that sought to put Communism into motion.

One of the biggest cons of Communism is that because the state runs commerce and business, there's no encouragement for invention and/or innovation.

Capitalism, on the other hand, does encourage the two, but even that has its own set of problems, as most of us are seeing even now.

Everyone was scared of the idea of Spetsnaz troops parajumping right into our backyards, and thus, everyone was afraid of Communism. Even today, that fear is still felt.

There's no simple answer for fixing the US economy, but there are a number of smaller solutions that can improve the situation, IF they're carried out correctly. Spending cuts is one, but only if the government's willing to make the hard decisions on what needs cuts.
