Aion: A fakku fresh start.

Over the past few months I've been playing quite a few single player games and I'm starting to feel trapped, the content and plot in most games are similar and always seem easy for some reason. The last game that really thrilled me was a MMORPG called Dark Age of Camelot, probably the best player vs player experience I've ever had but sadly the game died for me when the amount of players dwindled and my friends left one by one. I've been searching for something to fill that void, something that will have a well developed player vs player experience and I think I may have found it. The game is not through the open beta (which starts soon) part of the cycle so there is no idea what the end game is really like but as far as I've played I really enjoy the system, I hope it can live up to my expectations. I will cut short quotes from the website to explain some of the key aspects of the game edit: this thread is more to introduce the idea of forming our guild, i know another topic exists. What is Aion? Aion is a visually stunning massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) where your character wields devastating powers and sweeping wings to explore a celestial world of breath-taking beauty and epic adventure. It features cutting-edge imagery, gorgeous environments, and a unique fantasy world. Your character plays a pivotal role in the fate of Atreia, where the enemy is not only the other player faction but a deadly ancient evil as well. Aion is played on a Windows PC with Internet access. The World of Aion Explore the inside of Atreia, a world sundered into two halves, with the chaotic Abyss between them. Aerial Combat Start thinking of online combat in a whole new way. In the skies of Aion, attacks can come from any direction. PvPvE Engage in intense raids and encounters with nonplayer opponents, not to mention the opposing player faction. Ascension Characters in Aion begin as talented but normal humans who are fated to become more than human. They ascend, becoming Daevas, at level 10. Classes Choose from four starting classes. When your character becomes Level 10, choose a subclass to specialize your character. Character Customization Customize your character in a multitude of ways with a thorough character creation and crafting system, as well as detailed item customization options. What seems quite original to me is the 3d fight system, having players run around and chase opponents through the air seems like a cool idea. So far quite a few members of Fakku (some stafflol) have decided to band together in this and we're planning on forming a guild. We haven't decided on a name but are very willing to hear ideas. Depends if anyone in the guild will be going Priest/Cleric. If someone is, then I'll be going Chanter. If not, I'll be going Cleric.

Open beta : September 6 to 13. I don't think its REALLY an open beta, more like a closed but playing it for a week long

Character pre-selection (Create your character) : On September 18th. A FULL day to create a character and save the name!

Head Start : September 20th, may the leveling, grinding, griefing, pking, pvp, pve begin.

There is also news that a large 200+ man guild will be joining asmodians and will give us many opponents to fight.

They are called Ebonlore, very known guild for being very very bad. (Hackers and losing 2 vs 20 fights lol)

I'm most probably going to be rolling either an Assassin or a Sorcerer. I'm leaning towards the Assassin because I've always loved the way the entire class works (across most MMOs)

Templar for me Tanking is what I do best.

Pretty excited about this Ebonlore group. Always fun trampling on big groups with low amounts of people especially since it sounds like this group likes to brag alot.

Ill most likely play cleric, and if mike joins us (as he said he would) we will be set on full time clerics. Enchanters are what will mostly likely be something we lack in. I need more tanks but a few casters and rangers will be appreciated...

from what I heard, templars are far better than gladiators but as the game is still in its infancy so expect many nerfs and class changes; roll what you want and we'll make any group work, I assume we will all most likely have multiple characters and are able to switch out if the group needs it (as ive done in most mmos).

spoke with mike today (he was on vacation) and he is still down to play with us... seems we have 2 clerics, 1 enchanter, 1 assassin, 1-2 templars, 1 sorcerer and 1 ranger...

in list format:

Cleric: Mike, Waar
Enchanter: Tsujoi
Assasin: Kenjugs
Ranger: StrayDog
Templar: Tms, Sindalf
Sorcerer: Tms's friend

I know eab had every intention of joining us but I have not seen him in a few days; we will see where he stands soon I hope.

If anyone else is joining us please feel free to fill out what class you wish to play and I will add it to the list.

I'm still not sure if I can afford it, but considering how much I want to try it, I'm sure I'll find a way.

Ranger sounds like the class for me, and I may try a sorcerer as an alt.

Chanter is an underplayed class. I've seen one 1 shot Clerics. They have this knockdown that causes the opponent to get 100% critted for like the next 30 seconds. Its insane, my friend got 1 shotted by one. Imagen all attacks doing 1k damage.

Also I sent an email out to ask about people playing from different countrys just to make sure we could all play together regardless. Just all need to buy the NA version. Im just paranoid like that.

The trick to getting to play on the same server as all your friends, is to make sure that you all have the same version of the game purchased. In your case, since two of you are in NA, and one is in an EU zone, you will likely all want to purchase the NA version of the game, including your Euro friend.

Probably not, since Korean Aion will get a patch 3-4 months before us. Keep in mind, NCSoft west is only promoting / translating the game. All game content/patch are done in Korea first. And that has been in the game for over a year, if it hasn't been patch yet, it probably won't be.

Every MMO struggles with class imbalance. And this game is just getting on its feet, so you can expect these kinds of issues.

Is everyone hitting up the open beta next week, or are some of you waiting to purchase the game after it goes live?
