Did you mean, "Has anyone played Armored Core?"
Well, I really like this series. It's very underrated. Reviews are always surprisingly bad for it, which I think isn't very justified ever since they switched from the old control scheme to analog control... (But even with the shoulder button control scheme, I thought the first three on PS1 were some of the best in the series, especially Master of Arena.)
Yeah, I've played it before, but seriously not one of my favourites, the controls are too complicated. I prefer Armored Core: Formula Front for the PSP, We can choose the AI to control for us, After getting the Shoulder weapon program, I equipped my robot with the Large laser cannon (forgot the name) change it to Tank legs, Finished the game in only 3 hours.
Played a few of the armored core games, and personally I think it's a bit too complicated and fussy to be too popular. Not to mention that it has some very uninspired missions, and a pretty generic "corporation x vs corporation y in the far future" storyline that isn't too exciting.
But sadly, it's one of the best mech games out there =\ I say the PS2 versions are the best...there's no need to spend extra money on a next-gen armored core games since they're all basically the same.
Armored Core 4 is very different from the older games. Biggest change is the speed of the gameplay. Take it from me, I've been playing since the demo of the first game. >_>
One of the biggest complaints in reviews is that AC creation is too complex, and it looks like you guys are saying this, too. It's really not very overwhelming, you basically just have a bunch of numbers and you have to balance them according to what you want. If it's too high, you lower it, if it's too low, you raise it. I don't see the complexity, personally.
I only know what Armored Core is because the best guild on my RO server (which I was in before we disbanded) was called Raven's Nest, and that's apparently something from Armored Core.
Thats what pissed me off about last raven aswell, it was the only AC game that i ever really needed the OP-I because i couldnt complete one of the mission arcs.
I gave up eventualy and traded it in, Nexus was good though.
The first time i played this was with AC3, and I'm currently enjoying the AC4.
I can't wait till Armored Core: 4A (For Answer) is released. There were a few screens i saw where you have to fight these HUGE walking fortresses.
Imagine that an AC is as Big as a building, the walking fortress looks like a whole city.
I think they said it would be out around march. Not sure though
have been playing armored core since number 1,
number 4 wasn't that good, but this new "kill fortress" type of thing might be very nice and interesting...
Yeah, AC4 was a bit disappointing. I just hope there are a whole lot more parts and weapons in AC:fa. Especially since i really like to customize mechs. Those "Arms Forts" remind me of Shadow of the Collossus, but no need for the messy climbing and stabbing.
