Final Fantasy 10. This. The game that introduced me to RPGs. I played this before pokemon and I was 11 at the time. It was funny because I had no clue how the leveling system worked and I managed to go through 1/4 of the game without upgrading my characters lol.
I only regret playing this at a young age. I didn't give two fucks about the story at the time, which is a shame because it's so good.
I also got it when i was 11. I didnt have any issues with not caring about the story, or not understanding the leveling system though. It wasnt my first final fantasy so i kinda knew what to expect I loved the story, the ending made me cry. I still think its one of the best stories ever told.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was by far the most emotionally-captivating game I've ever played. The way Kojima twists your heart this way and that just impressed me so much that I give it the honor of being my favorite video game.
