What kind of PC do you have? If you can play the latest games with your PC i would be getting the PSP, something you don't have with your computer is portability. Unless you want to get it for exclusives or console only games. Another thing to remember is your screen you will be playing on, you need at least a HD-ready television/monitor to enjoy the power of the PS3 (same goes for the xbox 360, too much aliasing on a normal PAL/NTSC screen). All-in-all, if you do plan to get the PS3 i would certainly recommend saving up for the 60gb model with backward compatibility.
[size=10]ps. i dont own a PS3 or PSP myself, i have done some research on it because i want to get a new console myself.[/h]
I agree with quietus, there is absolutely no reason to get any of the new consoles unless you have a high def tv. you may as well just play your ps2 because it isn't going to look much different from that and that's pretty much the whole reason for playing nowadays.
As for the PC gaming industry - its spiraling around the drain right now. The only real reason to want to PC game is for MMO-style games. There isn't that much money in selling non-subscription-based games due to all the piracy thats going on. While there are a lot of really good titles that are only available for PC, you can find comparable ones for the consoles. Also, if you want to play any of the recent games your pretty much going to have to become a computer technician or pay someone to be one for you to get your games running good. Any cheap computer that you get at walmart will do what you want it to do - surf the internet, email, and do schoolwork.
