Collector's Editions!

Do you care for collector's/Specail/Limited Editions of games?
Are you presently looking at any?

Personally, I'm a huge sucker for collector's editions, since I live where most of my video game/anime stuff is ordered Online, I usally get the large collector editions of games and I love the stutues, soundtracks, disign books, commentary, Tin box, Steel Box, books, accessories and all those fantasic things.

I believe its a good collection for a decent gamer.

Now for talking about them, Although most of the collector's editions do come with a nice value price tag.. some are dearly overpriced, The Elder Scrolls 5:Skyrim, will have a 5 piece set for 150$/130(Pounds) although its not too good.. im sure my inner-fan-boy will buy it anyway.

if you would have asked me back in HS or a couple years ago i would have said i could care less but since i have a job and can afford to be a little extravagant the CE become more and more attractive.

I used to buy them all the time when I had a job. Should start working again soon, and with the discount I'll be buying more.

I didn't count stuff like my Medal of Honor Limited and my DAII Signature. I really don't consider it a Collector's Edition unless it comes with some extra physical item(s).

I don't really care for them unless they come with something worth spending the money on, usually I don't buy them.

The only time a Collector's/Limited Edition is good is
1. If it's cheap (only ten dollars above average game price or just plain cheap (Fate/Extra's Limited Edition is 40 bucks))
2. If it comes with goodies and, more importantly, an in-depth Making-Of DVD/BluRay

Recommended Collector's Editions:
*Upcoming Fate/Extra (for $40 you get an artbook and soundtrack)
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Artbook and Making-Of which begins at the studio's beginning until the game's release and even has interviews with a couple of the VAs (yes, including Adam's VA))
-Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (comes with a coin, a great Making-Of, and a FUCKING NOVEL! Hell yeah!)
-Metal Gear Solid 4 (The BEST Making-Of ever, with interviews of all the VAs, the entire crew, a history of the studio and the games, and of course a lot of Kojima ...Also comes with a soundtrack)
-January 31st: Soul Calibur V (comes with what's promising to be a great Making-Of with how personal the devs are with the fanbase, a soundtrack, an artbook, and some parchment paper ...Don't ask. I don't get the last one either)

Deus Ex:HR - $70 (when I bought it)
MGS:4 - DIRT. FUCKING. CHEAP these days.
Oblivion - Should be relatively cheap as well

The only reason I didn't include Catherine is because only die hard Atlus/Soejima fans will like it, but aside from us, others won't spend $80 just for an Artbook and OST (with clothing from the game, yes, but still not worth $80...even though I bought it).
_Also, Skyrim's Collector Edition would be AMAZING if it wasn't for the $150 price tag. Yeah, fuck that. I don't give a shit about a statue or Making-Of or Artbook at that point. That's too damn much. The damn box better suck me off for $150.

Side Note: Please buy Fate/Extra this Tuesday. If enough Fate fans buy the astounding PSP title, then hopefully Aksys Games, the publisher this time around, will be inclined to localize the upcoming sequel Fate/Extra CCC. It's a UMD (can also download from PSN if you want to) and it's very reasonably priced. $30 brand new for the normal edition, cheaper for the downloaded from PSN one, and only ten dollars more for the Limited Edition.

...Speaking of, Black Rock Shooter is supposed to be coming out around/after the Vita launch, and it'll have a Collector's Edition too (WITH THE WHITE ROCK SHOOTER FIGMA! FUCK YEAH!), but I didn't include that in my list because I have no idea how much it'll cost.

I only care how much they cost on ebay or amazon or w/e. any collectors editions i have is because they were the cheapest.

Just got my Uncharted 3 CE today....very nice.

I dont usually splurge on them anymore because they come with allot of useless junk but when I do its usually worth it.

If I had the money, I would get them for certain games. Maybe Mass Effect 3 closer to the time. I'm hoping that someone will buy me the Skyward Sword one. The Wiimote will be purely for display purposes...pretty much like my other ones.

I hate collector's editions. But I also hate buying new games. And I hate spending more than $30 on a game, period. lol

I kind of have two special editions; I say kind of because there wasn't any way to get them in a simple package. It's Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar: Eternal Blue. The stuff they came with seemed cool when I was in high school, like a cloth map and a real pendant you can wear and these little paper things you can put up around your room, but now, they're all basically worthless. You can't do anything at all with the cloth map; the pendant is heavy as fuck around your neck, and no one even knows what the hell it is anymore; and the paper things are too small and light to do anything with, because they'll be blown away by any nearby motion and can't be seen unless you're standing right in front of them.

The only bundle I might consider buying is the Zelda: Skyward Sword one, and that's because for only $70, you get the game and another Wiimote, with Motion Plus built in. I could use a second Wiimote in case I ever have company (though I'd have to buy a second nunchuk to go with it), and one with Motion Plus built in would be better than the thing I have now which plugs into the bottom and makes the remote feel heavy and unbalanced. It's basically the standard $50 for the game and $20 for a Wiimote. Damn good deal.

Collector's editions are normally the only reason I buy a game when it is just out but only for games I know I will like.

Other wise I'll just wait for the game to be cheaper. Some games I've been unsure of I managed to get the CE cheap.


I am really tempted by Skyrim but It's too much I would defiantly get it if it was 100 pounds but I think I'll just wait for a Game of the year edition or for the CE to be cheaper.

If I had known of the Collector's Edition for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, I would've pre-ordered this off the THQ website instead of at GameStop.

I would've paid the $100 for this.

Thats all i needed to hear, Collector editions are for remembering that first time you picked up the game at 8A.M!, The Hype leading to it! Disscusing the game with friends, playing it with company, lecturing a friend that THAT was isn't the way to play the game! the ways you told off your friend for using THAT pituclar weapon!
Even with all that, you now have some swank to remember it as technology passes by.
The price is worth any of that.

getting a new game is the same, making a good Video Game is now one of the hardest things to do in Entertainment, with years put into development! the only way that they can go below 50$ is because retailers by in bulk.

Even if you don't like that Pendant, or Cloth map, some gamer out there would remember how that game felt, and would love to have that... so sell it off.
