Console Recommendation

So, I'm thinking of buying my little brother a new handheld console, but I don't know which one I should pick.
Any suggestion?
Oh, he already got a PSP.

If he's too young, let's say about 8-10 years old, i wouldn't suggest the 3ds because its 3d feature is a heart attack to the eyes, in this case a PSP Vita would be the most appropriate since he's already used to the PSP . If he's above 10 or better, a teen, then I guess the 3DS is a good option equally with the Vita. Both handhelds do not have that many games yet anyway so either way he's going to enjoy the smell of a new console in his hands.

Well the 3ds currently has the superior game-line up in my opinion. So i guess that would be the better choice. I don't personally think that it's the better machine but it's true that it currently has a bigger library compared to the Vita.

Wait, can Vita play PSP games as well?

I say get him the Vita. It's new and nice. You can still play PSP games on the Vita via PS Store. Just not through the UMD's.

I say 3DS since the DS has the superior game line up.

Honestly 3DS has potential at the moment, VITA well... gotta wait until the good stuff is released.

Vita doesn't run any UMD so you gotta grab the old psp games on the PSN.
I'm not sure if you already own the games you get a reduced price or its standard price for every owner.

Yes, but you have to either:
A.) Re-buy them on the PS store
or
B.) Get the virtual code from your old games UMD and download it for free from the PS Store

UMDs are gone, so almost all his old games are worthless. The 3DS is backwards compatible to the DS.

I would tell you to get a psvita but.. indo's are paying 1000 for wifi ones. I'm not sure about 3ds.. maybe be way cheaper since it's last year's hit thing.. maybe the v1 or 2 are cheap. If you go the vita route.. online and ship to indochineseland like my friend andrew told me that what he calls java.

Anyway, once again it boils down to the games. While the VITA is currently lacking, but with time, I'm sure there's going to be more.

I need to buy one myself, Just tried playing some demos with a friend's VITA and I love it already. lol

The Vita's library is pitifully small for now, but it should have a better appeal to your brother; that is if he is a hardcore gamer. The Vita's future lineups look very promising as well. Call of Duty, Wipeout, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Resistance Burning Skies are all console quality games that are in the lineup.

As for the 3DS.. tough question. I personally own a 3DS and to say that I love it is exaggerating. The European version (the one that I have) has a subpar library in my opinion. There are a few good games on the 3DS (Resident Evil Revelations, TLOZ OOT3D, and the Mario games. Can't think of anything else at the moment.) but if you want to get the most out of the 3DS go for the Japanese version. (MONSTER HUNTER, Beyond the Labyrinth, Senran Kagura)

The 3ds has a better library of games, both currently out and announced as far as im concerned, so if he wants his handheld for playing games then i'd suggest the 3ds, if he's into shiny gadgets and all that shit get a Vita.

You should get him a 3DS since the Vita does not have a larger library than the 3DS.

Rather the 3DS, The PS Vita, or wait until the Xbox Portable is released.

After considering what all you guys said, I think I'll buy him a 3DS.

I think you should just make a list of all the available games for both systems and then let him pick the one based on what system has what he wants to play the most.

'Tis a surprise present, so there's no way I can make him pick.

I say that the Vita has a stronger line-up of soon to be released games than the ones that the 3DS hs to offer.
