Crane Anime shutting down as of today (15/05/2012)

Another sad day upon us. Craneanime.com, a good site for downloading Visual Novels are announcing a shut down today. I'm really sadden as they have one of the best number of releases of VN. They are known for their fast release speed(normally 1-2 months after the official release) and request board where they take request and uploads new or old Visual Novels.

Looks like I'll have to search for another source..... again..... TTnTT

This is terrible news. And to think that I just found out about the website! It has becoming a trend I think, with the closure of Megaupload, a lot of uploading sites have refused to allow users to download material. And the crackdown on sites like Craneanime is becoming more frequent.

Yeah..... Filesonic, Fileserve are all refusing to do filesharing now. Even MF is getting stricter on the rules....

The Dark Age of the Internet is upon us.......

It's a shame but I suppose it cannot be helped in the end. It WAS that sort of material.
Most of their stuff is still up and it doesn't look like they will take the blog down completely (yet).

There are plenty of other places (ED mostly for English VNs, Anime-Sharing and here for others, and more) and quite a few of their games are actually still up. Probably because they were foresighted enough to begin changing the names of the files to something much less noticeable. But it is a shame they've stopped.

I doubt they willing to re-up everything.

Anime-sharing link mostly dead too (if we talk about the posts before March 2012). Since 70% of em uses Fileserve + Filesonic + others.

New update! It seems they're revoking the shut down! They're asking for help to reupload and looking for helpers. If you have downloaded from them and still keeping the Iso, Mdf, etc files, go on and help!

I would like to but my connection is very unstable and it's not suitable for uploads. I have loads of trouble downloading as well.

The current method for the re-uploads on CraneAnime does not sound very good. You see, CraneAnime provides access to download the files without restriction and they seem to be doing uploads maintaining the name of the original files. This just makes flagging the links and accounts more easy.
Fakku for example has a login restriction for the user uploads section because of flaggers (I think) and maybe CraneAnime could consider doing the same.

Well, let's see how this will develop.

Login restrictions? What are those? I've been here for a while now but I've never noticed that......

If you're not logged on you can't access the user uploads section on Fakku.

...........Oh. Okay, I didn't notice that. Maybe because I always login automatically when I come here. Anyway thanks for the help!

Wow! I just found out about this site now and its being closed down??? What the Hell!!!!

Ahhh, just 6 hours ago I was downloading stuff with only like 5 parts left from CraneAnime, and now it says the MediaFire Account is suspended?? T_T
