I saw the trailers and stuff looks really good and I might buy it when I get a new computer in 2008, it recommends at least 2 gb of RAM which is "whoaaa". I think its worth it because I'm into FPS and this game looks really advanced.
It Really depends on how well you can put up with lag and such, Ive heard from a friend that it can lag with medium graphics, even if you have a Core2Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, 2GB DDR2.
I bought my new pc 2 weeks ago, I've a 6600 Quad core G0, Nvidia 8800 GT 512Mb, 2Gb ram and can play the sp demo with full details activated with 40-50 fps, but in some actions they drop to 15-25.
It looks like you need a newer video card to play Crysis. I've got a Radeon X1950 GT and 2 gigs of DDR2 ram, and it runs with only occasional hiccups in the medium settings.
Simply, make sure your system has the RAM, and you don't try and run it in Vista unless you have a high end machine. DX9 Crysis will run fine on most Dual Core computers that are 2.4ghz and higher. Sure, their readme says different, but you need a bit of grunt to start the bastard.
I'll rate the full version when I borrow it from a friend and get a chance to play it.
pifferaia: Your computer also has the help of a Quad core (appart from its other grunty specs). Crysis performs well on Quad core computers, as it has HyperThreading technology support, rather than using the OS's support. Most games and programs don't have native support for quad core processors (or dual cores, for that matter) so mostly don't work well. But Crysis is one of the exeptions.
I tried the demo on my PC. I'm still in the hospital from the shrapnal burns. Turns out that graphics cards can explode, and they take the rest of the system with it.
However, I did get the chance to play it on my friends computer before they hauled my bleeding flesh away, and it's pretty freaking sweet. We were arguing on whether or not a version on another system will come in the future ala Farcry, but were unable to agree before the paramedics hauled me away.
Long story short, please do not attempt this game unless your computer is high end. Really. It's just a waste of time. If you doubt that you can run it, you sure as hell cannot.
You can't have a Crysis machine without 2GB of DDR2 Dual Channel 800Mhz RAM. It is highly importaint. I mean it, you can run it on a slow system with everything set to low (My friend has a 2.2Ghz dual core, 2gb RAM and a 7600GT or something) but if he didn't have the RAM, fail. Minmum from Crytech is 1.5GB under Vista and 1GB under XP. Don't underestimate your RAMz.
Also, the SP Demo is pretty sweet. But my friend gets the whole game today, so I'll borrow that off him sometime soon and try it out.
lol Arbi, necro or what. But it hink it's a good game absolutely not the best around but definitely worth playing i also have Warhead but i haven't come around to play it yet, only played multiplayer on it so far. Playing around with the editor is the funniest thing you can do with Crysis for sure. It's fun making many of your friends fight and alien or a bunch of Koreans.
Sorry for the necro, but has anyone checked out the 2010 mod of the year that was made for this game? Mechwarrior: Living Legends?
That game (yes, i call it a game) is just made of Win.
As you might guess, it's based on the Battletech universe, not sure on the timescale on where it is but in CBT rules you got most Tech 1 and Tech 2 stuff. Though there are few Tech 3 items, such as the C3, BHP, MASC, Angel ECM.
Just yesterday they released 0.3.0 version (http://www.mwlldownload.com/) with plenty of bugfixes, balances and 2 new mechs, few new maps and couple new weapons, one being Battle armor's Heavy Micro Laser.
I urge anyone that has the game to test out the mod. I guarantee it's one of those mods that you just want to play, even if you didn't like the main game.
I'm horrible at explaining this kind of stuff for you people but check it out @ http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/ and also if you're going to get it, take a look in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBqvcVvYgZY (that has plenty of info on the gameplay)
In 0.3.0 they updated the mod's launcher and implemented pretty easy to use actionmapper, so one can easily map in joystick for example to the game's controls. Without using the lacking control option layout of the main game.
