I have to say that it looks kinda cool, and I'll keep it on my radar if I eventually get a console to play it on but being a Japanese game I doubt the customization of the character will exist to any larger extent, which kinda brings it down imo.
This looks sick, but from the looks of that trailer, it seems you won't be able to make your own character...or is it just me... Hope it's not an XBOX exclusive xD

Did you not watch the video to the end?It said PLAYSTATION 3 AND XBOX 360 IN THE END!

I rarely pay attention to trailers endings....my bad habbit.
Story: A normal human confronts a beast as red as hell's fire and as ancient as the doctrines foretelling its arrival. In their futile attempt to save their people, the human is taken out in a single swing and their heart is ripped from their chest. Instead of dieing like the others, this human transcends mortality and becomes the legendary "Arisen".
_To save the world, those they cares for, and themselves, the Arisen must give chase after the creature that stole their humanity and stop a blindingly massive evil from overwhelming the earth.
But what is the truth at the center of this conflict?

Hoping for the custom character option since the game is considered open world etc.
Custom character option? My man, what this game has isn't just a customizable protagonist option, it damn near borders on "total human recreation"!
You can find it in the hour long demo-stream showing you the beginning and several other aspects of the game below:
Also, a two part interview with the producer:

The game comes out May 22(America) and the 25(Europe) for the PS3 and 360.
It also comes with a demo of Resident Evil 6.
Edit: Son of a bitch, NOW this thread shows up after a search. Maybe my computer just didn't load it properly the first time. That was embarrassing...
So we've got from fascinations with Vampires, then Zombies, now Dragons. At least this isn't one of the what will be 40+ cookie-cutter dragon games coming out.

I was just having some fun, mate. Didn't mean to make it sound like I was calling you blind or something.
I'm preordering too once I get the cash. That dragon is the best kind of dragon to me, the one who doesn't have wings for arms. Classic dragon look right here. So friggin big, too! Best part is how badass he sounds.
Indeed it does.
The very grainy(can you say that? I'm french so I really hesitate on that) texture feel of the game reminds me exactly of what Monster Hunter looked like on PSP when I layed it and it is the same beautiful animations for the beasts that will roam that fearful place.
But why dragon age 2? Because of the classes? The equipment maybe, more european like(meaning bulky and "medieval like" and ignoring the video-game/anime principle for female armor ("hey I'm in a steel bikini swimsuit and it protects me from attacks")).

Or is it the moves?
You tell me. But i'm looking forward to this.
This is nothing like Dragon Age, let alone that shitty sequel. If anything the combat feels more like Shadow of the Colossus, which is not at all a bad thing. It's a beautiful thing.
I also don't see much Monster Hunter, but maybe there's some truth to it in there. MH is way more anime, which, while fun, doesn't match this game's art style. Though I do see the bit you mentioned about the monster's animations, which I can agree with.
Looking forward to this game too. I remember hearing somewhere that Capcom has said it wants this game to be a new franchise, so I might have to wait a few days after launch to see if the game has a full ending just to be sure.
Yet with the director and producer of Devil May Cry 4 on the game, I doubt it will end in a cliffhanger.
