Heads up to Oldmanleroy for informing us of a second season to the anime series.
If you did not already know, the anime series of EF was based off the first adult visual novel entitled "EF~ The First Tale". The second game, also known as "The Latter Tale", was released just a couple of months back. For those who felt that the anime series was far too abstract for their liking, both visual novels should provide a better understanding to each couple's development and storyline.
Unlike other visual novels, EF's gameplay progresses in chapters, where the player takes on the role of the male protagonist in each relationship, with a rather straightforward objective of attaining a happily-ever-after ending. As such, the player can only end up with a pre-determined girl in each chapter. One should not expect any hardcore sexual scenes such as gangbangs or threesomes since romance is the major theme of both games.
Why then should you play the game? The answer is simple: For its excellent animation. Although the choices one can make is limited, the wonderful artwork and animation makes up for it.
To prove my point, watch the following two videos, which are the opening sequences of the first and second game respectively. I believe they can be considered the best opening videos falling under the eroge category. The music and animation is simply breathtaking.
EF~ The First Tale
EF~ The Latter Tale
To end off, here are some images related to both games:
P.S. I have yet to try Ef~ The Latter Tale myself, but based on my experience with the first game, I am convinced it will be equally well-done.
The story revolves around the protagonist Hirono Hiro, a poor high school boy who draws shoujo manga for his living. One cold Christmas night after meeting a very strange woman in church, his bike gets stolen by another strange girl. He runs after her and finds her collapsed on the street. Her name is Miyamura Miyako and her bag got stolen by a man on a motorbike. Soon after, they start hanging out together, enjoying highschool life and whatnot. Hiro's life is also strongly dictated by Shindou Kei, his childhood friend.

Okay, usually not cool to necro a topic, but apparently, as I've read on visual-novels.net the "No Name Losers" translation group has released a standalone version of ef~ the first tale, with miyako's route translated, with the intention of translating the latter tale (not sure about the translation of other parts of the first tale).

torrent not working
Well, it has been a while since the release, and with NNL working on the official translation now, they would not support the old release anymore.
