Epic Video Game Moments

Ever had one of those times playing a game where things go so perfect you couldn't have possibly planned it?

Earlier today I was taking turns playing Bad Company 2 with my roommate. I was playing a round of rush as a sniper on the defending team when I spotted an enemy blackhawk helicopter coming straight for my general direction. Since I had a clear line of sight, I decided I might as well take a shot at it out of general principle. To my surprise, I managed to hit the pilot on the first shot. And not just hit him. I got a solid headshot, killing him and causing the chopper to crash directly into an enemy tank below. The resulting explosion managed to kill the tank and anyone that was still aboard the helicopter at the time. As soon as that happened, me and my roommate both looked at each other as if to comfirm that what we just saw had actually happened.

This thread is not for scripted events in a game's single player/story, instead the focus is more on outstanding moments in gameplay.

I have a pretty good tale. I was playing GTA SA and there's this mission where you jump out of a plane and parachute right? Well I accidentally let my parachute go and dropped for like a minute and when I finally hit the ground I was still alive by a sliver. I had a bunch of friends around and we were all laughing about how long the fall was taking and their reactions to me living were hysterical.

My WIN moment was during a counterstrike ESL competition, we managed to reach the semi-finals... Well it happened during a round, me alone left against 5 terrorists + bomb planted. You guess what happened next, i can't recall if they had weapons but i only had a deagle. I disposed of them and diffused the bomb. I didn't realize what i've done until next round. Twas pretty epic.

And on Battle for the middle earth (RTS), i can still remember my 20 victories in a row in ranked games /o/.

Getting my first nuke in MW2. Finally beating Nyx in P3. (I went straight to hard mode without loading old data so it was...hard.) Will list something else if it comes to mind.

Cutting Issac's arm off in Dead Space.

I remember 5 people attacking me all at once in Battlefield 2142 on Camp Gibraltar. I sniped two in the head, whipped out a pistol and shot a guy behind me trying to knife me, turned around, shot another guy, and then there was this guy down a hill also shooting at me. I was out of bullets so I simply slid down the hill ran up to him and stabbed him.

I was completely out of ammo and on minimal health, I just sat there amazed by the fact that I was somehow alive. I usually suck terribly at that game.

Was able to kill 15 terrorists in a row while playing counter-strike with my friends...only had a pistol at the beginning, ended up having an ak47 at the start of another round..

Invading someone else's world on Demon's Souls.
Getting Invaded by someone else in Demon's Souls.
Beating any boss in Demon's Souls. (Especially Old Monk)
Being the Old Monk boss in someone else's game on Demon's Souls.
Finally beating Demon's souls.

Demon's Souls is an epic game.

Tales of Rebirth.

Beating Milhaust on Unknown (the hardest difficulty level), in under 30 seconds, no damage, in a single combo.

Epic moment was had.

Then two of my yarikomi... Tales of Symphonia, PS2 version. Raine solo against Abyssion, on Mania (hardest difficulty level), no damage.

And the first Suikoden... solo'd the final boss (which means, no other characters besides McDohl).

I don't remember the game, but it involved driving cars. This one time my car flipped in such a beautiful way and then it landed on all 4 wheels while facing in the direction I was accelerating. My jaw dropped after seeing that.

Epic moments...(take a breath)...of all years i had played many video games, i will never forget this EPIC MOMENT...8)

it was around 2005 or 2006, i was a mid-schooler back then...me and my buddies make a huge gathering and we all decided to play Battlefield 2 at a nearest cyber cafe...we divided our group into two teams with 6 people each team...Team Junior(MEC) VS Team Senior(USA)...i was part of Team Senior...we played about 3 hours straight with Team Junior winning the first two round...the third and the last round we the senior almost gave up seeing Team Junior killing us one by one...when our last flag was taken, we were pissed off seeing all Team Junior cheering thinking they've already won...suddenly my buddy noticed that one of us and the only survivor of Team Senior still alive and capturing the flag...all of Team Senior started acting like we're losing...cursing them, saying they're cheating and lots more to distract them for a while...the leader of Team Junior noticed something was wrong and start using 'satellite'...he saw our man capturing already 97% of the flag...he alerted all Team Junior and rushed to the stolen base...unfortunately for them, it's too late and we're all back alive again...

only two words i can say, "PAYBACK TIME"...at this moment it's vice versa...Team Senior taking over their base one by one and kill the Team Junior one by one...their spirits were broken...in the end only one Team Junior remain...we the Team Senior toying with him for a while...at last i took the last shot...walking behind him as he tried to capture the flag...one buckshot to the head...BOOM!!! DIE YOU BASTARD...we won the last round as our song can be heard...Team Junior weren't satisfied and asked for a rematch but it's almost night and we had to go...by the time all of us came out from the cyber cafe...one of the Team Junior said at least they won 2 rounds compared to us only one round...i told him back "even we lost in the battle but we won the war"...HAHAHAXD8)8)8)8)

I have two off the top of my head.

Star Ocean 4, final boss, first attempt. The battle raged for a while (was a while ago, but was a good 20 - 30 minutes). Was down to my last 3 surviving members and couldn't endure much more. Used my very last healing item and took a hit or two. Boss begun his attack that was going to kill me since I couldn't heal. One last swing of my sword and the boss dies. You have no idea how ecstatic I was.

iRacing, rookie legends race. This won't sound as epic as it was to be there, and for those who don't know, iRacing is a simulation racing game with only human drivers online. Anyway, hadn't won a race, and was still in the rookie league. 50 lap race, about 20 drivers. Dodged the inevitable few spins and wrecks on the first few laps and was 10 seconds behind leader. Finally catch him and get beside him on the last turn of the race, crossing the finish line side by side for my only lap led and my first win.

Gunning down an AH-64, AT4-ing a Havoc, tracing and then quickly destroying two tanks, repair tooling a third tank, knifing the gunner that jumped out of afformentioned third tank, and then reloading AT4 and destroying a full Hum-Vee inbound on the flag in Bad Company 2 at Atacama (Site B)

I would have noted another moment when I sniped the pilot from a full BlackHawk and no one inside noticed, causing the 4+ men to fall to their deaths, but they were all listed as suicide, so I only got 1 kill. Much less win than instance mentioned above.

I disagree!! This is the most epic video game moment of all time!

For me .. err .. when i kill tank single-handedly at Left4Dead .. iunno if it's just coincidence or not .. but since halfway ..
i finished th chapter alone .. with no Ai friend ..
and for epic event .. when Heather and Memory of Alessa met at SH3 .. MoA's appearance still made me shivering ..

I was playing Battlefield 1942 on the PC, and I was playing as an american engineer. I was on the map Midway, at the Landing beach manning a costal defence gun aka defgun. When a jap val or zero was on a bombing run aiming at me. He was very close to where I was at when I noticed him and I said "Fuck It, if I'm going to die I'm going to try and take you with me." So I turn the gun towards him and aimed high and fired. I took him out before he could drop his payload on top of me. At that time and moment I wish the game had a replay option so I could save the replay and watch it over and maybe post it online.
