I been playing for a while now. not much into the pvp or any of the combat realy. i like the mining, salvaging, and other more indusrtious aspects. i wait to get into combat until i've built my vast empire.
I can guarantee you combat will be unavoidable if you want to build a 'vast' empire.
Which is true, you can't play EVE without getting some blood on your hands.
But hey, that's what mercs are for, you hire us to take out or protect goods/ships/players/GoonSwarm/etc. and indirectly, you get blood on your hands. :)
It's bit more then just the shirt / Monocles and what not.
The dev's personally stated year back that they won't introduce microtransactions. They now did, people got irritated.
Then this email was leaked - http://www.evenews24.com/2011/06/25/ccp-hilmar-global-email-shows-the-reasoning-behind-ccp-zulu-devblog/
People got seriously pissed off about this, since in short that pretty much says "The players will eat whatever we shit out" according to few other forums I've read.
Not to mention the microtransactions are same price as macrotransactions.
Also, there were some hints in a leaked dev blog ( http://www.evenews24.com/2011/06/22/greed-is-good-purportedly-leaked-internal-bulletin-shows-ccps-refreshing-new-direction/ ) that, they were also planning to go for the pay to win method, Ie Premium ships, Premium Modules, Premium Ammo and so forth.. Again I read some other forums that, one would be able to buy skill points and faction standing.
This would wreck the game's economy system with stuff that cannot be produced by players and the stuff would be better then what players could produce. The economy in the game IS EVE.
Result of this riot: about 10 thousand players at LEAST, have cancelled their subscription. I even heard a rumor that CCP altered the UI on the account management which, moved the cancel subscription button to near invisible level. Some people were even saying that they cannot unsubscribe or cancel subscription from the game.
